GET TOGETHER is a cute book about shapes. The book gives a specific number shapes and asks what they make together. The next page puts them together to create an animal, such as a fish, bird, tiger, and rhino. The animals then join each other on one side of the page spread while another is assembled. They then tip over and fall apart only to be reassembled into new friends!

What I loved: This is a simple book about creativity, shapes, and numbers. While these are not traditional shapes nor named, they help children imagine the parts that go into the whole, with some budding artist building blocks. Young readers can begin to see how they might come together to create something new. The shapes are asked as a specific number, which also helps with early math skills. The clever ending of the story allows children to consider how they might change the world around them and inspire some new creativity.

The book presentation is very simple, with large, clear font asking the questions and giving the answers alongside the shapes/animals in colors on a white background. The simplicity helps with early word recognition while also making it really easy for caregivers to read aloud. Children could also really read this on their own and explore the colorful animals and shapes by themselves, so the large board book pages help with little ones turning them on their own.

Final verdict: GET TOGETHER is a simple but fun board book that introduces shapes, numbers, and animals. Recommend for older infants and young toddlers.
