‘Feast Your Eyes on Food’ by Laura Gladwin, illustrated by Zoe Barker, is an encyclopedia that contains more than 1,000 delicious food items. The book starts out mentioning the five senses, and how tasting new flavors stimulates our other senses as well—touch, smell, sight, and hearing. There are short blurbs about every single food that is listed, along with a numbered image that matches the blurb. Each chapter begins with an explanation of whatever the main product is, from eggs to cheese, flour and cornmeal to pancakes, waffles, and crumpets.

An especially useful and engaging aspect of the book comes near the end when there are lists of ten ways to eat all of the various types of food items listed throughout the entirety of the book. So, one not only gets brief explanations of every single food item in the pages leading up to this section, but interesting and potentially unique ways that one may not have ever tried in which to work with these types of food. A glossary and recommendations for further reading close out the book, creating new opportunities for readers to learn even more about their options.

Whether one is a meat-eater, a vegetarian, a pescatarian, or even a dessert-lover, there is something for everyone in this amazing compilation with tasty looking pictures that may just whet one’s appetite enough to try something new.
