It's important to begin by noting the publisher, North Star, specializes in Hi-Lo readers. Originally, I was disappointed in the writing though enjoyed the plot. After some research, I realized why the writing was simplified. I think this will be an excellent addition to school libraries who have reluctant readers or readers who are below level but need older content.
"Exposed" has solid characters with good story-arcs and provides resolution to it's main issues. Originally thinking they are investigating a murder, Elias and Ty find themselves in the middle of a decades-old environmental issue. With road blocks along the way, they must work together to face people and corporations who do not want their deeds exposed.
Readers will find the plot immediately engaging, the book difficult to put down, and Elias and Ty easy to relate to.
