Rose Hathaway and Princess Valissa Dragomir must uncover the mysteries going on in St. Vladamir's Academy and their world. St. Vladamir's Academy is a school where Dhampir's, half Moroi and half human, learn to protect Moroi, living vampires, from the deadly Strigoi, the vampires we know. Moroi are living vampires who need some blood to survive while each has magic that lets them use an element; earth, air, fire and water. Strigoi are dead vampires that hunt Moroi, especially those from endangered bloodlines and enjoy killing their prey.
There is a fifth element that is just starting to be uncovered; the powerful but dangerous element known as spirit. Lissa is one of the few Moroi who can use it. When Lissa, her family and Rose were in a car accident Lissa used spirit to bring Rose back from the dead. Unknown to Lissa this would bind her and Rose together forever and make Rose Shadowkissed, someone between life and death. Rose's bond to Lissa allows her to experience what her friend sees and feels which comes in useful as Rose takes on her role as Lissa's Dhampir and protector.
Through their bond we get the learn a lot about Rose, Lissa, their relationship as well as their relationships with other characters. This series has excellent character development, especially for Lissa and Rose as they both go on their own journeys. Other characters are introduced in each book while the regulars such as Eddie and Christian develop more. The bond between Lissa and Rose is one of the strongest bonds of sisterhood I have read about. They have and would die for each other. Their bond is one reason why this series is one of my favourites.
The world is full of mysteries that we learn more and more about as Rose explores the world. There are mysteries that even the Moroi and Dhampirs don't know about which Lissa and Rose uncover. The mystery of their bond and Lissa's abilities is the main part of the series which is very interesting to learn about.
This series is action packed, full of suspense, twist, turns and magic. It is written really well and fast passed. I love this series. The magic and mysteries alone are great.
Vampire Academy was an amazing book. I liked how there isn't just one type of Vampire. There are the Strigoi, Moroi, and Dhampir.
Rose and Lissa were friends ever since they were in kindergarten. They left the Academy for two years for reasons that no one knew but them. When they are forced to come back to the Academy things get way more complicated for them.
I liked the friendship between both Rose and Lissa and how they would do anything for each other.
I don't think that I have a favorite character so far for this book. It is a very hard decision. I Love Christian , Lissa, Dimitri, and Rose they are all amazing characters with different personality and depth.
Vampire Academy is defiantly one of my favorite books now. I love it and I want to read to rest of the books in this series.
I think Richelle Mead is an awesome author.I can not wait to review the others books of the series ,and first book of bloodlines.
This characters especially the tough girl rose who is half - human and half- vampire who is a guardian for her best friend Lisa her is a Mori ,who is a vampire royalty. While they were living in the outside world the guardians from the vampire academy caught them and return them to the Vampire Academy. While they are there Rose must battle love and a evil person who wants to use Lisa special powers for his own use.
This Book is so good that when you starts to read it's hard to stop. I have read this series more than 5 times. One of my favorite Books ever the characters are interesting and each character is unique.
Really liked the way this book was written. Every main character (and a few side characters, too) had a huge influence in the story line of the book. Really thought the lore and the customs of the vampires in this book were well thought out and original which just deepens the story line. Overall the best book about vampires I've read so far (and I've read A TON of vampire books.) Totally recommend it to anyone who enjoys the young-adult fiction genre and the paranormal-romance genre.
This book has MANY good points, but the most obvious one is that this book isn't like all the other cheesy vampire books. Right from the beginning you know this isn't some stupid vampire book rip-off.

L: Honestly, when I read the synopsis of this book, I thought, Whatever. But I decided to give it a try. After all, my best friend was singing its praises and shes never done that before, except for Harry Potter. So I was like, Why not?
Vampire Academy was amazing. At first, I thought it was a superficial story vampire and half-vampire teens living at a boarding school, seriously? but before I knew it, I become more and more wrapped up in the mysteries of the book. What was happening to Lissa? Who was causing it?
And of course, if youve ever heard of VA at all, youve definitely heard of the romance between Rose and her mentor, Dimitri &
I adored Roses witty lines, Lissas caring nature, Dimitris wise remarks, and Christians sarcastic comments. I loved the chemistry and romance between the amazing couples in this book. I loved the mystery, the danger, the adventure, the fighting. It reeled me in.
I loved this book. Seriously.

This book in a series of 6 in december and it could kill Twilight. I'm sorry but the aditude and development of the characters in this book are amazing. Rose Hathaway, Dimitri Belovic and Lissa Dragomir are a firce team that could be very well unstoppable.
Good book overall. I like how even though it is a vampire book, its more about the two main characters than about the vampire part itself. I'm reading the 2nd book now. I really wish she would have gotten to be involved with Dimitri, but hey, its the writers story. Anyways, its a good read and worth checking out.
