This book was unlike anything I have ever read. Kevin Brooks captures his characters with so much emotion, reality, and thought. It was awesome. its about 15 year old Caitlin who lives on an English island. She's making a journey from being a child to an adult, and its terribly hard and sometimes quite scary. Then she meets Lucas, a mysterious boy who captures her attention with a great force. He's so mysterious and beautiful, but the rest of the island doesn't feel this way. He's different and they don't like this. Then a sudden tradegy makes the whole town turn on Lucas, and Caitlin wants to protect him. But she also has to protect herself and her family from the town's evil that takes them over. Things are going crazy in her life and things are changing. It's hard to deal.
This story keeps you on the edge of your seat. It has all elements of a great book: romance, emotion, friends, family, fear, sadness, love, and death. It's so realistic and you feel you are actually there every step of the way. It was amazing. You must read it now.

Lucas was one of the few books I've read that really made me stop and think about love. Kevin Brooks was very brave to enter a 15 yr. old girls life and has earned my respect for that. LUCAS is a must read for everyone. It has humor, passion, adventure, and honesty. You'll love it.

I read it last year in school for a project and i absolutly LOVED it!! I litteraly sat at home ALL DAY reading it so i could get to the end and find out what happened; and i really dont like to read, but i was hooked on this book! I even read it at lunch to get more time in in reading it and my friends would laugh at me but i didnt care i was so into it, reading that book i felt like i was right there and seeing everything. Lucas seeemed so 'dreamy' and absolutly delishhh'<3[lol] i wish he was a real person so i could meet him, hes so laid back and real, it sounds crazy but i had a personal connection to him THREW the book! haah! You have NOT lived until you read this book. And when i got to the end, omg it was so sad i was like crying. That was the first book that I really got into and acually made me emotional in some way so that really made me love this book. 3 cheers for you kevin brooks!

I was going on holiday to Canada for 3 weeks in a RV, basically, it's a house on wheels, so I went to pick out a book and straight away Lucas caught my eye! I read the back and it seemed so fun to read, I was in Canada and we went everywhere, we travelled to Calgary, Vancouver, Banff everywhere! There were so many sights to see but I was far more interested in Lucas! I was in a completely different world, I didn't want to put the book down, I thought to myself, okay, I' gonna sop in a minute and after a minute reading something exciting came up and I'm telling ya I would read it for hours and a week in our holiday I finished it, I was so dissapointed! I couldn't read it again because I knew what happened, that's by far my favourite ever book! I love everything about it, the setting, the characters EVERYTHING, I loved Lucas.
But can you believe it? I missed half of the best sights in Canada by reading Lucas! That's how much I liked it.
It's so imaginitive, when I finished the book I bought The Catcher and the Rye and were all stroppy that it wasn't as good as Lucas! Haha!
I say to all readers 12 or oder should read it, it's such an extroardinary book!
PS. My mum was fep of me moaning that there ws nothing to do after i read Lucas she told me to write to Kevin Brooks and make another but BETTER and BIGGER!
Hopefully he will

this bookwasn't so much confusing as it was just plain bad. were set on an island where the people like to talk and outsiders aren't welcomed. it's weird but this book to me was just about the iimportance and effects of gossip more than the tantalizing issue facing caitlin. although one finds out that cait has feelings for the mysterious lucas, the fact that so little is known about him begs to question whether the atuhor did it on purpose or if wer are to piece together the bits of information given. i thought the book was fairly bad in it's events although i enjoyed reading the transformation of the relationdhip between dom and cait. it's great to see brothers and sister getting along. i just wish that lucas didn't have to be so mysterious.

Ich can onlay advise this book everybody!!
It´s so graet - it´s the best book I´ve ever read!
The story is told by Caitlin McCann, a 15 year old girl, who lives on a small island, Hale, with her father and her dog, Deefer. Her brother Dominic is at uni and has come to visit& so too has come a strange new boy, Lucas. But with him comes a lot of rumors - The stories about him start to spread. At the moment she sees Lucas Cait knows that things will be different. Lucas has no last name, no history, no friends, and no family --- but he is gentle and thoughtful and Caitlin knows she can trust him. But not everyone on the island is as open-minded.
Cait is also trying to find out what to do about her best friend angel, who is hanging out with people Caitlin finds unsavory.
This book ist grand!!!!
So read it!

Lucas, written by Kevin Brooks is one of my favorite books of this year; it is a story about a girl named Cait who meets a mysterious boy, Lucas, in her little town in Ireland with the pale blue eyes and a sad smile. She sees him as she and her dad drive her older brother down the quite streets to their house while he is back from college, he walks alone, dressed in green with a knapsack slung over his shoulder, and from then on her thoughts are consumed by him and why he has come here.
The drama starts when people begin to question what he is up to in the small town, then one day she finds him while walking her dog down by the beach; she figures it must be fate as they stand in silence. He has been living on his own for a while in the murk of a dangerous swamp. But what about when the other people of the island begin to think that Lucas has murdered someone along with various other crimes and want to bring him to justice? This is a truly page-turning, heart-wrenching, and dramatic story I could simply not put down, I was in tears reading it. I would rate it a 9.7 out of 10.
