THE DEVIL MAKES THREE is a dark YA horror that creeps up on you. The book follows two teens, Eliot and Tess, who are brought together when Eliot requests books from the library where Tess is working from the summer. As they search for these occult magical texts in the stacks, they end up finding something much darker than they expected - a book that was trapping the devil has let him out. They must find a way to re-trap him before it is too late and everyone and everything they love is destroyed.

This was a slowly building read that creeps up on you and then does not let go. There are definitely some intense horror scenes, and the author can certainly paint an image! The characterizations were deep, and this would appeal to people who particularly enjoy character-driven reads. The story flips between Eliot and Tess's perspectives, which adds to their character building, relationship, and also provides relief from particularly disturbing scenes at times. This is definitely not a good choice for late at night, but it's a great spooky pick for YA horror fans.

With compelling and deep characters and supernatural horror, THE DEVIL MAKES THREE is a chilling and spooky read that is sure to enchant readers. Recommend for fans of THE RAVEN CYCLE, THE NATURE OF WITCHES, and THE DEAD AND THE DARK.
