Let me say that I loved this book! I read the first book, The Wildlands and thought it was wonderful, but maybe a bit on the tame side...not this one...this is a grittier, meaner, and much more emotionally heavy book. I will admit that I got choked up several times as I've become invested in Rayn and Luk and their lives. Both of these young kids are struggling with the burden of having to survive in a very harsh world and it makes them doubt themselves, each other...and even if its all worth it.
Wonderfully written and exciting...I cannot wait for the next volume!
Great character development
Well written action scenes
Realistic portents of a world that may come to pass
Packed with emotion
