A Great Summer Read

Summer is here. With the sun and the beach, the one thing I crave is a great action-packed blockbuster read. Hollis Gillespie does it again with the sequel to Unaccompanied Minor.

We Will Be Crashing Shortly, just like its predecessor, is a fun read, an escape from the day-to-day book. The kind you read soaking up the sun while relaxing on the beach.

This sequel takes the action and plot twists of the first book and steps it up a notch. April Mae is still her snarky smart self, trying to make the best of the mess she finds herself in. She has gone from runaway, to a media celebrity, to a murder suspect. She has survived an airplane crash, financial intrigue, and has been hunted down by her stepfather. Now she has to stay alive as she finds herself onboard L1011, trying to figure out who is responsible for the murder while figuring out her family’s past.
Flo adds to this suspenseful plot by lightening things up with humor and laugh out loud moments. What makes this story work is that Gillespie maintains the suspense, keeping the reader completely wrapped up in the story.

This is perfect for middle school and high school readers. There is some mature language, but given the circumstances in the book, it is a realistic response. Adults will find this a fun light read and a great escape book. Would love to read more of April Mae’s adventures in the airline world.

Don’t let this one pass you by this summer. Pick up Unaccompanied Minor and We Will Be Crashing Shortly and enjoy!
