Fear starts off where Plague ends. The readers are introduced to a set of different perspectives right from the start. A shocking beginning but one that answers many of the questions readers of The Gone Series have held deep in their hearts since the very beginning. Grant delves into the inner fears of Astrid, Sam,Diana, even Caine. The readers also learn of new secrets each character holds.
The plot twists and turns down dark alleys of the mind and the human soul. The Darkness may be weakening but it has devised a plan that will make it more powerful than ever. Will it succeed? Will the Darkness succeed in bringing Fear to the inhabitants of the FAYZ? As Sam states, " Fear wasn't about what makes sense. Fear was about Possibilities. Not things that happened. Things that might." Only time can tell what will happen...what happens in the Light, the 6th book out in 2013.
The Gone Series is a fantastic thrill ride. One that can appeal to both male and female readers alike. However due to some mature content that deals with intimacy and violence, I would not recommend this particular book in the series to middle school readers. Some discretion is advised.
