Larkin Pace is fourteen years old and wants more than anything to be a filmmaker. He loves old time movies and really wants a new camcorder so he can record the next best film.

He also is confused with his relationship with long time friend Brooke. Are they more than friends? His nemesis Dalton Cooke doesn't think so. Besides just surviving his freshman year in high school he also has to deal with a sister who's a major drama queen.

On his first day back from winter break, Larkin is given an assigment to write a personal blog. What Larkin records is hilarious and also very insightful.

This is a fun story that is filled with great illustrations in a journal like format. The art and plot is engaging. Larkin's blog entries are hilarious and also totally reflect what it's like to be fourteen. I don't know about anyone else but fourteen was a very awkward stage for me too.

Larkin's confusion on Brooke and where they exactly stand relationship wise is something I know others can relate with. Fans of the Wimpy Kid will find Larkin's experiences and blog entries just as hilarious. I love his experience at a school dance. Ohmigosh. Too funny. Just reading this entry put me back to my own teen dances and how hard you try to impress others.

I love his relationship with Miss Sadie. Her revelation plays into his own love of old time movies.

Larkin's goal to meet Steven Spielberg over a casual dinner is shown in funny blog entries. Also his sister's drama moments capture a true diva moment or two. Coming from a family with mostly girls, I can relate. I'm sure I had my own drama moments too.

This book will put a smile on your face. A fun tale for those Wimpy Kid book fans who are now in high school. Also a great bet for reluctant readers who love graphic/comic book tales with a hero they can relate with.
