Janie is now using her dream catching to help solve crimes. This time, she's discovering which of her teachers is raping his students. She volunteers to act as bait to discover which teacher is guilty and have information against him, which Cabel, her boyfriend, doesn't like. Janie also finds that her dreams are getting harder to return from, and she's always conscious of the green notebook in her closet revealing the truths and secrets, both good and bad, about dream-catching.

Fade was much darker and more serious than Wake. It was, for me, a huge step up. Both Janie and Cabel felt more real to me, and the plot was more interesting and better planned out. It was a little bit hard for me to connect with Janie's character, but that didn't stop me from turning pages and wanting to find out what happened next. On the whole, I really enjoyed it, and I can't wait for the next one to come out.
