Sugar Magnolia Dempsey, better know as Maggie, has some strange parents. They are free spirits who believe no one owns anything, and people are supposed to roam free. So every few months Les and Rosie uproot Maggie from her newly settled life and mover her to a new town. This time they are moving to Austin, Texas, and Maggie has to leave behind a very good friend and a boyfriend that she loved. In Austin she decides that she will become unpopular, so when her parents make her move again she won't have to leave friends. But no matter how hard she tries, how stupid she looks or how dorky she acts, people still try to befriend her. What more can she do to be friendless?
I loved this book. It was sort of a mix of Georgia Nicolson and a normal teenage girl. I loved the storyline, it was very funny and captivating. This book was soooo hard to put down. The characters were very interesting, and fun. It seems like almost anyone could fit into Maggies position. This is the type of book where you get so into it you want to scream out "No, Don't Do That!", or you find yourself smiling randomly.
