Vahan Kenderian begins to suspect that something is wrong when his father is taken away by the gendarmes and does not return for weeks. Eventually, his older sister Oskina confirms his worst fear- his father has been killed. This is only the beginning of the many deaths that will ruin Vahan's life, however- a few days later the gendarmes murder his older brothers as well.

I think I might actually have gotten this book from this site but, at any rate, I have my own copy. When I was reading it I brought it to school with me (what, did you think I actually studied in school?). Much to my amusement, everyone who saw me reading it assumed it was about the Holocaust (it's not; it's about the Armenian genocide).

Still, I recommend it to people who enjoy reading books about the Holocaust- it reminded me a lot of Torn Threads.
