The book is told in three letters (though they dont read like letters, exactly). The first is from Ree Ree to her mother, explaining what happened and why (contributing factors being the mothers own constant man hunting, her fathers absence and lack of interest, and how everyone and everything has let Ree Ree down). The second is from her mother to Ree Ree, expressing disappointment but support. And the final is again from Ree Ree, but this time it is to her son.
Ree Rees voice is authentic and believable. Shes a girl with good intentions, but not always the best judgment. Theres not too much hopefulness in this book, but teens could learn something from Ree Rees choices.
Recommended for readers aged 14 and up.
