Holy. Cow.
You guys, Rachel Hawkins knows how to write a book.

I honestly don’t know how everyone was able to wait for Spell Bound after that one. I’m extremely glad I only have to wait until it comes in at the library for me!

I don’t want to get into the story itself too much so I don’t spoil you for Hex Hall, but I can still talk about the characters. Sophie is back and just as sarcastic as I ever which I loved. I love that her sarcasm doesn’t make her seem cynical. Not that I can’t appreciate a cynical character, it’s just a nice change.
Cal was so sweet and caring it was impossible not to feel sorry for him (more on that later).
Archer. Yeah. This guy is awesome. He’s sarcastic and snarky and yet still so sweet. He’s just so…*sigh*

Rachel Hawkins, you’ve done it again! I loved this book! It’s easily just as good as the first, which is often a difficult task to accomplish. Hawkins does a great job at delving deeper into Sophie’s family history and tons of new characters show up that really cause a stir in just the right way. Sophie meets some more demons, who turn out to be quite a problem, but nothing she can’t handle, with the help of her father and Cal. Cal plays a more prominent role in this book and you start to see his significance and the relationship between him and Sophie will blossom, although I don’t know if it will last. It kind of sucks because I really like him, but I like Archer, too. I can’t choose!

I liked that Sophie learns more about controlling her powers and just how important they are to her and the paranormal world. Some unexpected villains arise in this book and you even get to see Archer for a bit, and oh, do those little bits make you want more! Rachel is such a tease!

Demonglass was a great sequel to a fun and interesting series. I love that it wasn’t just fluff, like some tend to be, and really had a story behind it and a purpose in the overall scheme. If you loved the Hex Hall, you’ll devour this one. I can’t wait to read Spell Bound!

Although I'm not providing spoilers for this book, if you have NOT read the first book in the series (Hex Hall), I highly advise that you DO NOT read this review!

Alright, so if you're still reading this, I'm assuming that you've read Hex Hall. As we all know, at the end of Hex Hall, Sophie announces that she wants to go through The Removal to get read of her powers after having to kill her great-grandmother, Alice, with a shard of Demon Glass. She's scared that she'll go psycho like Alice and Lucy, her grandmother. So in Demon Glass, it's nearing the end of the school year. Sophie's father, Head of the Council, shows up at Hex Hall to talk to Sophie about going through the removal. He makes a deal with her: If she spends the summer with him in England then he'll allow her to go through the removal. Of course, as any loving father would, he tries to change her mind through the whole trip. Will she go through with it after all?

Now, I absolutely loved the first book. I've seen reviews and ratings for Demon Glass and was wondering what exactly was missing for people to give it 2 stars. I personally loved this book a little more than the first. Rarely do I find a sequel that is even equally enjoyable to the first. This book was riveting, had me at the edge of my seat, and I even cried a few times. It is a great addition to the series and I cannot wait to read the next book!

Oh how I loved HEX HALL. And I didn't know it was possible, but I loved DEMONGLASS even more! Sophie is my kind of heroine, with wit, cleverness, and a conscience. And the BOYS. I was firmly with the whole Archer thing, even knowing about The Thing, but . . . CAL. *swoon*

Everything I loved about HEX HALL I loved even more in DEMONGLASS.

The cliffhanger at the end killed me a little.

I loved this sequel to Hex Hall! It has everything an awesome book needs: fabulous setting, secrets, humor, swoony boys with unclear motives, plot twists, and supernatural stuff. It's possible I loved this more than I loved Hex Hall. Certainly I think the romance aspect is even better in Demonglass. This is a well-crafted adventure from start to HOLY COW DID THAT JUST HAPPEN finish. You don't want to miss it.

When I finished Hex Hall it killed me to wait for Demon Glass, I was so excited for this book and it did not disappoint. Rachel Hawkins has a one of a kind writing style which I've never seen before, shes Witty and funny her characters seem so real and full of personality.

Sophie is one of my all time favorite characters (so much so I named my little girl sophia!) and I enjoyed reading about her developing relationship with her father who turned out to be not as bad as we all thought!!!
The book is set in London for the most part (big ups for the homeland) Ms Hawkins did this beautifully. She didn't over do the story with needless facts like some authors like to do.
I love love love the star crossed lover mess with Archer (I totally see why shes into him) and we get to find out more about his past.

Bring on book 3 because I have a feeling Soph's mom and dad where something of Star crossed loves in the past!!!! EXCITING. So rooting for the parental units

I didn't think I could possibly like Cal as much as I do but my heart goes out to him, I genuinely hope something good is in the works for him.

I want to talk about everything in the book but I don't want to spoil it for anybody! but it is totally awesome :)
Good Points
Sophia shows shes stronger then she thought
We learn about Archers past
Its very funny and witty
its full of personality

Reader reviewed by Astoria-Malfoy

Demonglass became the book I was more excited/anxious to read. Hex Hall was amazing, which made the expectations for Demonglass perhaps higher, and it did not disappoint.

I still love all of the things I loved about Hex hall. Sophie's witty and sarcastic remarks, her friendship with Archer, and their little arguments are some of the little things that make the book so good.

"Bad Dog".
We learn more about Cal, the school's Ground keeper, for instance that he is betrothed to Shophie, and she was one of the reasons he stayed at Hex Hall after he turned 18.

Jenna wasn't present for much of the book, but we got to meet Daisy and Nick, both of whom I actually liked.

Rachel does not drag on and on the story as many do, which gives it the right pace and enough suspense to have you on edge.
