When Kaylee goes on a date and the guy tries to make a move on her, she accidentally calls on a storm. Then, the guy draws a sword on her and tries to kill her. She gets away alive and attempts to push the disaster date to the back of her mind and have a normal first day of her freshman year. But she quickly learns that nothing will ever be normal for her again.
Kaylee is no ordinary girl. She's actually part dragon and is a rare storm one. Dragon slayers are after her and Kaylee is surprised to discover that her best friend Jade is her protector, also known as a "tamer". Jade introduces her to Maddox, who is a protector and he watches over Edwin because he's a Merlin (a person who does magic). The four of them grow closer and are going to need each other with the slayers trying to capture Kaylee. They want her for something and that's scarier than killing her.
I love the friendship between Jade and Kaylee and the humor it brings to the book. There's a lot of action in this story and I love Edwin's character. I felt bad for him in the beginning, but Kaylee pushes him to be better and the scenes with them together kept me reading. Dragons are a favorite of mine so I wasn't surprised to enjoy this read!
Final Verdict: I would recommend this to fans of magic, dragons, action, secrets, and mystery.
