Every day Violet Eden wonders whether she made the right choice.

She still doesn't fully understand these powers she's been granted as a half-angel Grigori. And worse, isn't even sure she's capable of using them. Stab someone through the heart? Really?

No matter how bad things get, though, Violet doesn't run and she doesn't quit. Even if it means she can never allow herself to love the guy she longs for. Even if it means asking her enemy for help. Even if no one is telling her the truth.

The war between Exiles and Angels is on—and she's wanted by both sides.

While this isn't my favorite series to read, I do like that it shows there are consequences to the choices we make. Violet is struggling with her guilt and attempting damage control with her Grigori partner Lincoln (Linc) when we meet up with her in Entice. She loves Linc and has for a long time now but regardless of her feelings for the green-eyed half angel, she'll have to figure out a way to work with him as they continue to battle the exiles in an effort to protect humankind. Violet isn't the only one with secrets though. It seems Linc is keeping a few of his own and the fact that Magda might play a role somehow certainly doesn't help things.

I've always been Team Linc and while he allows himself to get distracted in this book, his intentions are always in the right place. It's obvious he loves Violet as most of his decisions are made with her safety and protection in mind. (How can you NOT love a guy like that?! Never mind that he's gorgeous too.) My frustration was with the back and forth of does he or doesn't he? Will they or won't they?

Violet can be impulsive and stubborn and while wanting to see the good in everybody isn't a bad thing, you would think a half angel would come equipped with a little more discernment. She doesn't which is why she tends to make a lot of mistakes. One of those involves Phoenix, the tall, dark and dangerous guy she thought was her friend. Phoenix is the ultimate exile and he's already proven just how powerful his influence over Violet can be. I didn't like Phoenix in Embrace and I don't like him now. (This is surprising because I'm usually a sucker for the would-be bad guy.) Something about his character makes me not trust him as far as I could throw him.

We meet new Grigori who add humor and interest to the story and they bring information that could help Violet long term. As far as second books go, this one was just "OK" for me. Yes, secrets are revealed and yes, one is that there's a traitor among the group but the "who" lacked the "OhEmGee!" factor I like to see. I've no doubt that readers will enjoy this next installment in the Embrace series and will be eager to see how it all works out with Violet, Linc and Phoenix.

I have to admit, I’m not really a fan of angel YA novels. When I received a galley of EMBRACE to read, the packaging intrigued me enough for me to start reading.

Let’s just say I was hooked! I loved Violet, who finds out she’s a Grigori, someone who battles against fallen angels. Plus, I’m a huge sucker for a love triangle with amazing chemistry. Let’s just say Lincoln and Phoenix are two hawt guys!

So I had to read ENTICE. I even went back on Sunday during ALA this last summer just to get a copy.

Let me tell you, ENTICE exceeds my expectations.

In this second book, Violet is battling the hurt she feels at Phoenix’s betrayal and also what appears to be Lincoln’s rejection. And I thought Buffy had it bad with the day after with Angel. No, Violet gives a whole new meaning to this. Some hard truths surface that include Phoenix's true character. Plus a scary revelation about Violet that's almost too much for her to bear. Add to this the consequences to what happened between them. These consequences are far reaching in more ways than one.

I really love the sensory details that help show Violet's emotions and reactions to everything around her. Also there’s a mystery about Scriptures that ends up forcing Violet to confront Lincoln.

Lincoln and Violet teeter so close to having much more than a working relationship. I know I held on with baited breath, hoping for more. There's obstacles thrown their way which adds to some great tension.

There’s so much to love with this series. A kick butt flawed heroine with an anti-hero, Phoenix, that I totally love. Suspenseful, action-packed writing that sprinkles a bit of its magic on the reader. Totally addictive! And the chemistry sizzles, captivating the reader. I know it did with me!
I can’t wait to find out what happens next!
Good Points
1. Amazing paranormal tale
2. Action-packed, suspenseful trip through the world of a Grigori
3. A great new anti-hero, that you can't help but love
4. Engrossing tale

Wow! Jessica Shirvington never failed to deliver. I totally loved this book and I can't help but continue to be head over heels with this series. I actually thought the sequel will never top the first one but it did and I loved it!
Violet continues to learn what being a Grigori really is and what she is.
I definitely loved the new additions to the series and the revelations they bring with them. Spence bring humour and fun to the series.
Even if Phoenix is the bad guy, I can help but feel for him and I love the mystery around him. Even if he's putting on a dark front, he still has some good part of him which was shown.
Lincoln on the other hand has secret of his own which was pulling both he and violet apart.
The next book in this series better be good or I'm suing Jessica Shirvington for failing to deliver! (lol just kidding!!!)

The Violet Eden story continues

And Violet Eden's story just keeps getting better and better!...

In the first book to the Violet Eden Chapters, Embrace, we meet Violet and watch her learn about her destiny and struggle in her decision to whether or not embrace her angel powers. Will she be able to accept her immortality and fate? Will she be able to do it alongside her partner, Lincoln, even if she may never be able to forgive Lincoln after he kept these life altering secrets from her. And her relationship with Phoenix, finding out who he really is and what his intentions are. A lot of her choices where not good ones, will she be able to deal with all of the consequences?

In Entice, Violet has chosen to accept her new destiny, work hard on her training, deal with trying to balance her teen real life while being a Grigori and is struggling with how to deal with her true feelings towards Lincoln too - things are different now and are highly complex to the point that things can end very badly... even so, after promising each other that there are no more secrets, Lincoln starts to pull away at a most crucial time and he is never around for Violet. Suspicions arise and things start to fall a part, fast.

Now, throw in some new and intriguing characters! A serious plot that just keeps getting better, thicker and, for lack of a better word, enticing! This book has now turned into one of my all-time favorite angel reads ever. There is so much suspense and mystery surrounding Phoenix in this book - and because of him, all angels are after the same thing. They're off on a hunt that can change the world as we know it - and if these items get into the wrong hands, the imaginings of hell is just the beginning.

Jessica Shirvington's writing and world building is so realistic
- she has created a beautiful story of love and hope, you will not be disappointed in this series.
