The Calling (Endgame #1)

This book strongly reminded me of the Hunger Games in the way that it's a survival game, only this game may be the exact opposite of the one in the Hunger Games. As opposed to being trapped in an arena, you're running around the world. As opposed to hunting people down, you're hunting something down. Instead of winning for a district, you win for a bloodline, the only bloodline that will survive. But don't worry, fans of the Hunger Games will love this. It's got all the exciting aspects of the games, and i really have no idea who will win.
My only complaint is something that I love and i hate. It's narrated by multiple characters - and i love that because we get to see how every character plays, what goes through their minds, and really raises the stakes about who will win. I hate it because i had a little trouble connecting with them. when it's one, two or three, that's okay, you can manage. But we're talking 12. So yeah, the characters I got to know intrigued me, although their blood lust was a little deterring. I just wish I could focus on a few, get to know them really well, and fall in love with them properly. I found myself rooting for some characters to come back while I was stuck with some I didn't particularity like. But again, it took me to different parts of the world, and i saw the game through players, who played the game very differently from each other. Unlike the Hunger Games, most of the book focuses on the game aspect and not the characters.
The game itself and what it means is so cool. Potential players have been training for centuries, waiting for the calling, when the Endgame begins. When it does, you have to solve the riddles and win for your bloodline. The ones who lose will be destroyed along with the earth. I want to find out more about the world, and i want to see more of the adventures they go on. So overall, awesome book.
