Edward is back, but so is Victoria who is set on killing Bella as revenge for James's death. The only way to defeat her, is for the Cullen family to recruit the local werewolves to fight together.

My favorite of the Twilight series. Stephenie Meyer does a good job of letting her characters grow and develop believably. The tension between Edward and Jacob is so strong you can feel it, and Bella's dilemma is understandable. You won't be able to put this one down!

Eclipse is the third novel in Stephenie Meyers popular Twilight series. You really want to have read Twilight and New Moon (in that order) first before reading Eclipse, because the author doesnt spend too much time expounding the story-lines of the previous novels but rather drops the reader straight in to the story. You also want to read Twilight and New Moon because they are both excellent novels and, trust me, you are missing out if you havent read them.

Eclipse carries on not long after New Moon left off. Bellas high school graduation is approaching and she will soon be leaving Forks forever, ostensibly to go to college - but in reality she is planning to join her boyfriend in his vampire existence and will therefore be unable to return home, due to being dead and possessed by a terrible blood lust for the first few years. Not that the reader is actually taken that far in this story, we make it through graduation but then the dangerous vampires from Seattle come to Forks and dealing with them dominates the rest of the novel.

This is only one part of the story though. Eclipse is primarily a romantic saga, so Bella and Edwards relationship is the primary focus of the novel. Or as I should say Bella, Edward and Jacobs relationship - because there is a love triangle in the plot of this novel.

Bella and Jacob have always been friends, at least they were - right up until Jacob became a werewolf. Then the enmity between vampires and werewolves put a huge strain on their friendship. Besides which, Jacob is in love with Bella, who is in love with Edward so this is going to make things awkward between them.

At this point, Eclipse descends into soap opera territory Bella has found her soul mate in Edward but Jacob is the soul mate she should have / could have / would have had if Edward didnt exist. She loves him too but not as much as Edward. Why she loves Jacob is beyond me he knows that she loves Edward but Jacob still tries to make her feel guilty that she cant love him like he wants her too. Blatant emotional blackmail is unattractive whatever way you serve it up and it detracted from his otherwise fine character. Worse, it lead to a large proportion of this book being devoted to teenage angst and with this book being 628 pages long that a substantial amount of angst!

To be fair, Eclipse is written for the young adult market so I really shouldnt complain about the teen angst and the drama but for me it meant that this book lacked the magical quality that made Twilight stand out from the crowd of vampire romances available in bookstores today. Dont misunderstand me - Eclipse is still a really good read. The book didnt feel like it was over 600 pages long, I literally flew through the pages and had to make a conscious effort to slow down my reading so I didnt finish the whole book in a couple of sittings.

For teens already hooked on the series Eclipse is another solid instalment of Forks goodness. Adult readers may be put off by the teenage relationship angst in this novel but if you have already enjoyed the authors previous offerings I think there is still plenty here to entertain.

It will be intriguing to see where Stephenie Meyer takes the ideas and characters in this series next. Writing for the Young Adult market always means that there is some expectation for the author to set a good example for impressionable young minds and criticisms that Bellas character is too dependent and needs set a better example for young women seem unfair. This is romantic fantasy enjoy it!

This book is one of the best because after Bella and Edward come back together he feels very sad because he left Bella, she wants to see Jacob so she has to prove that its safe for her to go to La Push, also there are newborns in Seattle that's has to do with Victoria who is trying to track and kill Bella. Edward and his family, with Jacob and his pack will have to come together to fight the newborns and Victoria. But that's not all the hardest decision is for Bella who will have to choose between Edward and Jacob. Who will she choose?

I can't wait till the next book. I think that this series is the best I have ever read. Edward is here in this book a lot more than the 2nd...thankfully or not. I think that I still want Bella to get change into a vampire. But you never know. Stpehenie Meyer keeps you guessing the whole book. I finished this in 2 days. I had to go to the store to get it after I finished New Moon. I think that if you have read the previous 2 then you will love the third. It is my favorite so far. It had the most action ever!!!! Have fun reading and have a hard time waiting till august for the next to come out.

The book Eclipse By Stephenie Meyer is a book I did not want to put down! Eclipse is the third book in a series, the series in order is; Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn is the final book in the series. A new book Stephenie wrote is called The Host. The two main characters in Eclipse are Bella Swan and Edward Cullen. Edward Cullen is a vampire that has fallen in love with Bella Swan and he is risking everything to keep her alive. Bella Swan is your averages human girl that has had an interesting turn in her life because she is in love with Edward Cullen. The settings would be Forks, Washington, A meadow that Bella and Edward go to when they want to be alone (its also where a major battle is at) and Bellas room.

Bella becomes in danger of being killed by new blood thirsty vampires who are being leaded by a vampire that hates Bella& Victoria. I love this series so much Ive read it more then three times! This book I would say is for ages 12 and up, mostly because there is some mature content that may or may not be inappropriate content. This book is a horror/love story, because Bella is in danger of being killed and she is in love with Edward and Edward loves her. The plot of the story to me is love overcomes all things.

The best of the four in the saga, in my personal opinion.
Something about it managed to form an exceptional blend of supernatural thriller and tumultuous relational examination. It's romantic. It's intense. There's a lot more background lore on the shifter wolves as well as the Vampires and their politics. And as there is finally some real action, it kept my attention. As with the two that preceded it, I could feel satisfied if that were all there was. But fortunately, there's more.

Edward and Bella are fighting against outer forces again in this book. This book centers mostly around Bella/Edward/Jacob with little side-stories about Rosalie and Jasper - how they became vampires, how their stories define who/what they are now. There are many killings in Seattle, the Cullens are trying to find a solution, Bella is worried about Victoria seeking revenge, the Voltori coming back to make sure she has been changed, and Jacob her best friend, the werewolf. Jacob and Bella's relationship in this book frustrated me and maybe it was supposed to. Edward is jealous of it because Jacob wants more and during some points in the book forces more in stomach churning scenes. He is like a pouty baby when he doesn't get his way. I really enjoyed the like/hate/comraderie that Edward and Jake share throughout the book. They get some good zingers on eachother. However, I hate that even a little part of Bella is so focused on Jake that she takes what she has for granted. Edward never falters, accepts what Bella wants, while Jake forces Bella to do things he wants. She ultimately has to choose between Edward and Jacob. There is no choice really to make, since Bella knows she wants Edward and his family. In the end, Edward, the rest of the Cullens and the werewolf pack keep Bella safe and now we are on to the next book. This book was not my favorite of the series, but it was still a book I couldn't put down. I hope Breaking Dawn lives up to my expectations.
