WE ARE TOGETHER is a book about activism and teamwork. In the form of a rhyming poem, the book stresses the value of working together to achieve our goals. Each page features cut-outs of children of many races that add up throughout the book (new children revealed on each page). The backgrounds change in really lovely ways with plenty of scenery and animals throughout.

What I loved: The messaging here is really lovely and the poetic form flows beautifully. It is a pleasure to read. The cut-outs add some extra fun, as children can peak through the pages to see new children. I also really love all the different children pictured, as well as all the details in the background that make each page really fun to look through. The penguins are a particular favorite in our home.

What left me wanting more: As a small thing, the darker background pages are hard to read the black text off of, as they are a little too close in color (white font would be appreciated).

Final verdict: A sweet book with great messaging about teamwork and activism, WE ARE TOGETHER speaks to the importance of friendship and working with others to achieve our goals. The many details, children, and poetic language used will appeal to a broad range of young readers.
