A Contours of the Heart Novel As a child, Landon Lucas Maxfield believed his life was perfect and looked forward to a future filled with promise—until tragedy tore his family apart and made him doubt everything he ever believed. All he wanted was to leave the past behind. When he met Jacqueline Wallace, his desire to be everything she needed came so easy… As easy as it could be for a man who learned that the soul is breakable and that everything you hoped for could be ripped away in a heartbeat. Tammara Webber, the New York Times bestselling author of Easy, now delivers a daring and entirely new perspective on love, and why falling for it is beyond our control.

*Due to the mature content, this book is recommended for readers 18 years and up*

What I Loved: Can we start with the cover because...cool hair and lip rings.

This book should come standard with a pack of tissues and a warning label: "Prepare to have your heartstrings shredded."

Told from alternating POVs, Landon Lucas Maxfield is the kind of character you want to get behind and cheer for. He's been through an unimaginable trauma and the guilt he carries is enough to bring a grown man to his knees, let alone a young boy.

Is he perfect? No.
Has he made some less than stellar choices over the years? Sure.
Grief has a funny way of bringing out the stupid in anyone.

But Lucas is lucky because he's surrounded by people who genuinely love him and who will do whatever they can to see him succeed. They believe in Lucas even when he doesn't yet believe in himself and his transformation from broken boy into a young man full of quiet strength, love and hope is heart-achingly beautiful.

The kissing scenes aren't too shabby either. *fans face*

My first impression of Lucas Maxfield in Easy (Contours of the Heart #1):

"Lucas is a knight in shining Starbucks apron strings with his cool hair, and tats. (Don't even get me started on the lip ring.)"

My first impression of Landon Maxfield in Breakable (Contours of the Heart #2):

"Oh my heart."

What Left Me Wanting More: Lucas was a bit of an enigma for me in Easy, one of the many, many things I lurved about him. And while I thought I wanted to know every little detail about his life prior to meeting Jacqueline, I'm not sure that was the best thing now. Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed Breakable but it got me to consider that sometimes maintaining a little mystery is a good thing.

Final Verdict: Breakable is everything fans of Easy, and Lucas Maxfield, have been waiting for! Read it. Love it. Thank Tammara Webber.

I wanted to read Breakable because I loved Easy, the romance, chemistry and emotion. It has been awhile since I read the first, which is good because its the same story, we just get Landon's perspective.

I fell just as hard for him this time as I did in the first reading. He is so hard working, loyal and working through his pain and past. I couldn't remember details from what exactly happened to him or Jackie's past for that matter so it felt like a fresh read.

It was nice to get more of an understanding behind why the Lucas vs Landon wasn't handled better. He is insecure at times and more of a sensitive soul that I would have imagined, but we get to see what has formed him into the person he is now.

We get to see Landon as a teen in high school fresh as he is dealing with the monsters of his past. We see his unlikely best friend situation as well as his emotional issues being so fresh and impacting every aspect of his life.

Things were pretty rough, and his life especially academically was going downhill, and we see the professor and long time family friend step in and give him some challenges and offer to help if he can pick himself up.

The ending was nice and I enjoyed reading this new perspective on Lucas and Jacquline's romance as well as what made Landon into who he became.

Bottom Line: Good addition to Easy.

Just a warning...there are a lot of spoilers in this review and I sort of mixed the whole Contours of the Heart together :)

Landon Lucas Maxfield aka LM. The man I fell in love with. His bad boyish facade, his complicated rebellious teens that seemed so familiar to me or the chivalrous and delicate side of his hidden under the tattoos and piercings - they all got me hooked within seconds to those books.

After I had read the Beautiful Disaster series I thought that I would never be more swept of my feet by any fiction character more than by Travis Maddox but boy was I mistaken...

I started of...well, Easy. I related to Jackie who followed her self-interested boyfriend Kennedy to college immediately. Having been at the college-relationship-HS boyfriend crossroads myself I felt the sadness, loneliness and heartache all over again with Jackie and it all seemed very familiar when Jacqueline tried to start fresh and just get her life together. One night, one party, one parking lot and one drunk aka "her roommate’s boyfriend’s best friend" did not make it very Easy. But Mr Maxfield did. Whether as the econ tutor smartarse Landon or the always working, tattooed bad-boy Lucas. He watched her from afar, lusting her but his courteous self restrained him from whatever his rebellious self wanted. Until she went MIA and missed the econ classes. He became Landon or LM, her tutor who was friendly, funny and carring through emails, just helping her with the worksheets and catching up. Little did she know that behind this very LM was hidden the same boy who saved her from her roommate's boyfriend's best friend and sold her coffee in Starbucks.
They played with each other. She falling for Landon and planning her bad-boy phase rebound with Lucas and he living double life as both the econ wizard and the boy who scribbled his number on her coffee. But it all began much ore than just an innocent game. They fell in love. Unconditionally.

When I reached the last page I was craving for more, so I though well it worked with Travis it will work with Landon as well. I picked up the Breakable. Maybe it is because I am biased and I had my own rebellious years and struggles and I have a soft spot for boys with long dark hair or because I listened to Goo Goo Dolls a bit too much but reading Landon's perspective of events made me addicted to the book and I read it in one go. I could not stop. I was feeling every bit of pain when he struggled the night his mum passed away and I was sharing his don't care attitude when Mrs Ingram gave lecture after lecture about being expelled.

It was not just a love story of a bad boy and a golden girl who magically fall in love together. It was a journey of two souls that knew that it was Easy to become Breakable but found the way to be themselves again.

Even though I loved Breakable much more I recommend to read it in order. Start with the Jacqueline's story and work it through to Landon's complicated life.
