Meet This Darkness Mine!

Sasha Stone knows her place—first-chair clarinet, top of her class, and at the side of her Oxford-wearing boyfriend. She’s worked her entire life to ensure her path to Oberlin Conservatory as a star musician is perfectly paved. But suddenly there’s a fork in the road in the shape of Isaac Harver. Her body shifts toward him when he walks by, and her skin misses his touch even though she’s never known it. Why does he act like he knows her so well—too well—when she doesn’t know him at all. Sasha discovers that her by-the-book life began by ending the chapter of another: the twin sister she absorbed in the womb. But that doesn’t explain the gaps of missing time in her practice schedule, or the memories she has of things she certainly never did with Isaac. Armed with the knowledge that her heart might not be hers alone, Sasha must decide what she’s willing to do—and who she’s willing to hurt—to take it back.

I always have an operating title in my head while I'm working on a manuscript, usually something humorous and a bit kooky, but that captures the feel of the book perfectly. I called THIS DARKNESS MINE "Fight Club In The Band Room."

I went to a small school where cliques didn't really exist. There weren't enough students to fill all the corners of the extracurricular activities without crossing those boundaries. The result for me was being something of a Smart Girl Bookworm Athlete Badass Funny Girl Band Geek. Yes, in a small school it's possible to be all those things at the same time.
I've written a little about all of the above in different books (some as of yet unpublished), but I had yet to find a manuscript where I could get my Band Geek on. THIS DARKNESS MINE provided that. Music can be a deeply motivating factor in a person's life, moving them to tears, elevating them to joy, even allowing an escape when reality proves too much. Sasha Stone uses music in all these forms in the novel, and I can only hope that it resonates with some of my readers as well.
Band geeks will get the jokes, know the deep thrill of a cadence, remember what it's like to accidentally adjust your stride to the person walking next to you... even when you aren't marching. We're special people, band geeks.
And this one's for you.

The summary is awesome! Added it to my TBR list right away.
I don't think I expected such a powerfully charged story based on the simple cover.

I love the cover! It's pretty creepy. The synopsis sounds intriguing too. I love stories with "gaps of missing time."

The truth is that at first glance I didn't really think there was anything special about the cover, but reading the synopsis made me extremely curious about the book and had me looking back at the cover suddenly curious about that as well.

This novel sounds so interesting; I really want to read it now because that synopsis was so intriguing. The cover is fascinating as well. I like how she's somewhat hidden, like the twin and just like Sasha's secrets.
