~Comic-Con 2016 Recap~

This years San Diego Comic Con was full of surprises, teasers, and of course long lines and the introduction to the RFID badges.  While to many, this year’s con was one of the hottest in a few years; this New England girl loved the weather.   Coming from 90 degree heat and humidity to the ocean breezed filled 82 degree sunshine of San Diego was refreshing.  It was a little hard to come back.

As always SDCC started off with Preview Night. This night was filled with excitement as toy and movie companies opened their booths up and handed out con swag to all the attendees. With over 130,000 people a day entering the convention center it was a bustling place. A lucky group of attendees were able win free tickets for the showing of Star Trek and Beyond on Wednesday, July 20th. So there were lots of happy people.

After preview night, I had to sit down and prepare for the upcoming days. There were fantastic YA Panels, that you must get in line early for, and author interviews. Plus, I couldn’t forget to keep my eye out for awesome Cosplayers and celebrities walking the exhibit hall. Adam Savage from Myth Busters was walking around as the bear from…. and of course Henry Cavill, Superman himself, disguised himself in a mask from Mr. Robot to surprise Will Smith in the signing booth!

With SDCC come long lines, for Ballroom 20, Hasbro exclusives and the infamous Hall H lines. Hall H is famous for its fantastic panels and the chance to see some of your favorite people in the entertainment world. In is here where attendees got the first look at new trailers for all the new movies coming out this year; Wonder Woman, Doctor Strange, The Justice League, Lego Batman, Suicide Squad, King Kong, King Arthur,  and of course Fantastical Beasts and Where to Find Them. Even though I couldn’t attend with my busy schedule, watching the trailers after they released that night was just as exciting.

Overall, San Diego Comic Con is a great experience that I suggest to anyone who can grab on to luck and grab those coveted tickets when registration opens up. I always find people to be super friendly. It is fantastic to see families and children getting excited as they walk around. I’ve bee to local cons and even the NY Comic Con a few times and San Diego will always be 1st in my heart- and for good reasons!
