YA Authors as YAs: The CJ Redwine Edition

YA Authors as YAs: The CJ Redwine Edition

Hey guys! Today kicks off a new interview series we're running in conjunction with young adult author (and our Senior Editor) M.G. Buehrlen called YA Authors as YAs.

Our goal? To prove to you that your favorite authors — no matter how AWESOME and COOL you think they are — were once awkward, weird, and they geeked out about fandoms and guilty-pleasure music JUST LIKE YOU when they were teens. (Most of them still do, you know, and that’s totally COOL, because being yourself is the ultimate in EPIC COOLNESS.)

Don’t believe me?

Maybe C.J. Redwine, author of the DEFIANCE trilogy can convince you…

…WITH HER SOPHOMORE YEARBOOK PICTURE AND HER BANGS OF DOOM.

mwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

DECEPTION by C. J. Redwine

ISBN: 0062117203

Publisher: Balzer + Bray

Release Date: 8/27/13

ABOUT DECEPTION:

Baalboden has been ravaged. The brutal Commander’s whereabouts are unknown. And Rachel, grief stricken over her father’s death, needs Logan more than ever. With their ragged group of survivors struggling to forge a future, it’s up to Logan to become the leader they need—with Rachel by his side. Under constant threat from rival Carrington’s army, which is after the device that controls the Cursed One, the group decides to abandon the ruins of their home and take their chances in the Wasteland.

But soon their problems intensify tenfold: someone—possibly inside their ranks—is sabotaging the survivors, slowly killing them off. The chaos and uncertainty of each day puts unbearable strain on Rachel and Logan, and it isn’t long before they feel their love splintering. Even worse, as it becomes clear that the Commander will stop at nothing to destroy them, the survivors begin to question whether the price of freedom may be too great—and whether, hunted by their enemies and the murderous traitor in their midst, they can make it out of the Wasteland alive.

In this daring sequel to Defiance, with the world they once loved forever destroyed, Rachel and Logan must decide between a life on the run and standing their ground to fight.

Praise for the series:

“A well-paced, heart-wrenching tale of loyalty, courage, and love.” (Romantic Times)

“C.J. Redwine’s DEFIANCE is a gritty, thrilling adventure sprinkled with moments of breathtaking tenderness. I read it in one sitting.” (Rae Carson, Morris Award finalist for THE GIRL OF FIRE AND THORNS)

“Spellbinding, romantic, and impossible to put down.” (Julie Kagawa, New York Times bestselling author of the Iron Fey series and the Blood of Eden series)

“DEFIANCE defies all reader expectations, giving us both a post-apocalyptic setting rife with history and a plot that’s as much about the discovery of one’s own humanity as it is about survival.” (Lisa Mantchev, author of EYES LIKE STARS)

This cover is gorgeous. The girl is beautiful and the darkness makes the cover extremely compelling.
