28962906

Author: Kerri Maniscalco

Book: Hardcover, 336 pages

Expected publication: September 13, 2016

Seventeen-year-old Audrey Rose Wadsworth was born a lord's daughter, with a life of wealth and privilege stretched out before her. But between the social teas and silk dress fittings, she leads a forbidden secret life.

Against her stern father's wishes and society's expectations, Audrey often slips away to her uncle's laboratory to study the gruesome practice of forensic medicine. When her work on a string of savagely killed corpses drags Audrey into the investigation of a serial murderer, her search for answers brings her close to her own sheltered world.

Why Beth chose Stalking Jack The Ripper:

I mean seriously...Do I even had to say why I chose this book? The cover, name, and synopsis says it all!!! Seriously...a 17 year old girl who is determined to undercover a serial murderer?? YES! I'm IN!! I think Kerri Maniscalco is going to fly into the YA genre with a bang!!!

Like A River Glorious (Rae Carson)

18054071

Author: Rae Carson

Book: Hardcover, 432 pages

Expected publication: September 27, 2016

Publisher: Greenwillow Books

After a harrowing journey across the country, Leah Westfall and her friends have finally arrived in California and are ready to make their fortunes in the Gold Rush. Lee has a special advantage over the other new arrivals in California—she has the ability to sense gold, a secret known only by her handsome best friend Jefferson and her murdering uncle Hiram.

Lee and her friends have the chance to be the most prosperous settlers in California, but Hiram hasn’t given up trying to control Lee and her power. Sabotage and kidnapping are the least of what he’ll do to make sure Lee is his own. His mine is the deepest and darkest in the territory, and there Lee learns the full extent of her magical gift, the worst of her uncle, and the true strength of her friendships. To save everyone, she vows to destroy her uncle and the empire he is building—even at the cost of her own freedom.

The second epic historical fantasy in the Gold Seer trilogy by Rae Carson, the acclaimed author of The Girl of Fire and Thorns.

Why CJ chose Like A River Glorious:

I'm excited for Rae Carson's LIKE A RIVER GLORIOUS! It's the second book in her historical western fantasy trilogy. I'm a huge Rae Carson fan! She builds beautifully intricate worlds that swallow the reader whole, and the first book in this series was impossible to put down. It gave my inner Laura Ingalls Wilder something to fangirl over (I've always been fascinated by the wagon trains in our country's history), and it also gave me intriguing characters, high stakes, unique magic, and so many threads that I need explored in book 2!

The Graces (Laure Eve)

Author: Laure Eve

Book: Hardcover, 432 pages

Expected publication: September 1, 2016

Publisher: Faber & Faber

Everyone said the Graces were witches.

They moved through the corridors like sleek fish, ripples in their wake. Stares followed their backs and their hair.

They had friends, but they were just distractions. They were waiting for someone different.

All I had to do was show them that person was me.

Like everyone else in her town, River is obsessed with the Graces, attracted by their glamour and apparent ability to weave magic. But are they really what they seem? And are they more dangerous than they let on?

This beautifully-written thriller will grip you from its very first page.

Why Zabet chose The Graces:

I have a serious weakness for books about witches and spend nearly all of October immersed in this genre.

I'm excited to see Eve's take on it and what happens when an obsessed girl tries to break into the Grace's inner sanctum.

The Alchemists of Loom (Elisa Kova)

29844598

Author: Elisa Kova

Book: Hardcover, 380 pages

Expected publication: January 10, 2017

Publisher: Keymaster Press

Her vengeance. His vision.

Ari lost everything she once loved when the Five Guilds’ resistance fell to the Dragon King. Now, she uses her unparalleled gift for clockwork machinery in tandem with notoriously unscrupulous morals to contribute to a thriving underground organ market. There isn’t a place on Loom that is secure from the engineer turned thief, and her magical talents are sold to the highest bidder as long as the job defies their Dragon oppressors.

Cvareh would do anything to see his sister usurp the Dragon King and sit on the throne. His family’s house has endured the shame of being the lowest rung in the Dragons’ society for far too long. The Alchemist Guild, down on Loom, may just hold the key to putting his kin in power, if Cvareh can get to them before the Dragon King’s assassins.

When Ari stumbles upon a wounded Cvareh, she sees an opportunity to slaughter an enemy and make a profit off his corpse. But the Dragon sees an opportunity to navigate Loom with the best person to get him where he wants to go.

He offers her the one thing Ari can’t refuse: A wish of her greatest desire, if she brings him to the Alchemists of Loom.

Why Melissa chose The Alchemists of Loom:

I'm counting down the days for the release of The Alchemists of Loom by Elise Kova on January 10th! This will be the first book in a YA Fantasy/Steampunk series that promises it all - action, adventure, romance, astonishing world building, four POVs & kick-ass characters! Sounds great, right? Not to mention that The Alchemists of Loom has an incredible cover art. It will surely look amazing in any book shelf!
Have you added this book to your TBR? :)

Expected publication: October, 2016

He’s the Black Mage and she’s the traitor to the Crown.

Torn between love and duty, heart and mind, Ry finds herself on a perilous mission to help the rebels and convince the kingdom of Pythus not to honor its pact with the corrupt king of Jerar –all the while deceiving the most powerful mage in the realm, the very man sworn to protect the Crown and hunt the rebels at all costs: her husband.

She’s one step ahead, but sooner or later the curtain will fall.

Sooner or later, she’ll have to fight.

Witness the epic conclusion of The Black Mage series, and see just how far one girl will go to save her kingdom and the boy she loves –even when that boy has become the enemy.

Why Kelly chose Last Stand:

I'm waiting for Last Stand (The Black Mage, #4) by Rachel E. Carter.
I recently blitzed through books 1-3 of The Black Mage series in the mother-of-all book marathons, and now have a actual need to read the final instalment. Late 2016; so close, yet so far.
