Today we're excited to chat with Michelle Lynn (Golden Curse)

as part of YABC's Teen Read Week!

Read on for more about Michelle, her novel, plus a giveaway!

Meet Michelle Lynn!

 M. Lynn has a brain that won’t seem to quiet down, forcing her into many different genres to suit her various sides. Under the name Michelle Lynn, she writes romance and dystopian as well as upcoming fantasies. Running on Diet Coke and toddler hugs, she sleeps little - not due to overworking or important tasks - but only because she refuses to come back from the worlds in the books she reads. Reading, writing, aunting … repeat.

Meet Golden Curse!

A curse. A hidden identity. A dangerous love.

Ten-year-old Persinette Basile was forced to flee the palace of Gaule for her life. Now at eighteen, she must find a way to return in order to obey a curse on her family line.

The prince won’t know who she is. Not anymore. But she knows him and what he will do if he discovers her true name.

Made to fight for her life to earn her place, she vows to find a way to break the curse no matter the cost.

To. The. Death.

The words describing the tournament turn Prince Alexandre Durand’s blood to ice.

The last warrior standing will win a spot at his side.

As he's thrust onto the throne, forbidden magic, dangerous betrayals, and a complicated love could tear his reign apart.

When the secrets begin to unravel, will Alex stay true to the laws and traditions of Gaule or will he give it all up for a woman who deceived him?

Inspired by the Rapunzel story, this is the golden-haired princess as you’ve never seen her before.

~ Interview for Teen Read Week ~

YABC: What book or books were your go-to choice when you were a teen?

Anything fantasy. His Dark Materials by Phillip Pullman. Anything and Everything by Robin Hobb or David Eddings. Harry Potter, of course. Gosh, there were just so many. Oh, The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. Can't forget about that series. I spent a large amount of time as a teenager behind my books. LOL

YABC What do you love most about the YA genre?

The possibilities. I love seeing kids with such hope and drive. They haven't yet been beaten down by the world. They can still be anything, do anything. And they're accomplishing incredible things, sticking up for what they know is right, and standing up to those who are older than them.

YABC:  Was there a class in high school that you wished you had paid closer attention to and why?

English. LOL. Weird to say now since I'm a writer, but I hated it. Now I could use all those obscure grammar rules. Maybe it would have given me an earlier start.

YABC:  What advice would you give teens who might want to be a writer?

Start now and don't stop. It doesn't matter if what you're writing is good, what matters is you're doing it. Writing is a muscle that needs to be trained. Most authors will say they improve with every single book. You continually learn. It takes discipline and a lot of practice. Don't worry so much about if people will want to read it. They might want to read the next one. Don't give up. Don't listen to all the opinions people will spew. Everyone has one. Learn how to discern negativity from constructive criticism. Never think you're perfect because you won't be. Never think there's no more room to grow.

YABC:  What 3 YA books would you love to recommend to our readers?

Gaia's Secret by Barbara Kloss

Cinder and Ella by Kelly Oram

Adorkable by Cookie O'Gorman
