Meet Michelle Lynn!

M. Lynn has a brain that won’t seem to quiet down, forcing her into many different genres to suit her various sides. Under the name Michelle Lynn, she writes romance and dystopian as well as upcoming fantasies. Running on Diet Coke and toddler hugs, she sleeps little - not due to overworking or important tasks - but only because she refuses to come back from the worlds in the books she reads. Reading, writing, aunting … repeat.

Meet Prophecy Of Darkness!

Only magic can save them from what is coming, but first, it must be reclaimed. Twenty years ago, war devastated Dreach. Bloody and cruel, it ravaged the realm and stripped magic from Dreach-Sciene. Without magic, there is no hope. No life. For Prince Trystan Renauld, there is no choice. As his people starve, his enemy prepares for a final showdown that will decide the fate of the realm. Without magical power, he and his people will lose everything. Even with it, they may fail. Against a backdrop of prophecy, curses, and forbidden love, Trystan must reunite the legendary Tri-Gard, keepers of the magic, and find the power he’s always believed was a fairy tale: magic, the very foundation of life. With both sides preparing for battle, it’s a race against time—and against the kind of darkness that can destroy them all. Prophecy of Darkness is an epic adventure to destroy evil. Do you dare to join the Prince and the people of Dreach-Sciene to fight the darkness before everything is lost? Will you help the Princess prove she is more than they think she is? Are you ready to fall in love?

~ Interview for Teen Read Week ~

YABC:  What book or books were your go-to choice when you were a teen?

There were so many because I spent so much time reading. Anything fantasy – Harry Potter or anything by David Eddings or Robin Hobb. Ooo, I also loved His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman.

YABC:  What do you love most about the YA genre?

It’s full of so many possibilities. A lot of the characters in YA are full of hope that has been taken away from characters in older books. They believe they can do anything so they really can. Characters are experiencing a lot of firsts. First rebellions. First challenges. First loss. And my favorite – first time falling in love.

YABC:  Which social media site do you wish had been available to you as a teen and why?

Probably Instagram. There is so much positivity flowing through that platform. It’s designed in a way that makes it more difficult to tear people down. It’s a way to share our lives without hurtful words or harsh judgements. It lacks the political divisiveness of others because it isn’t made to serve as a soap box for people. Plus, it’s full of crazy pet photos and children.

YABC:  What advice would you give teens who might want to be a writer?

Don’t define success based on society’s standards. Publishing is hard. Having a successful publishing career seems impossible at times. But that doesn’t make you any less successful as a writer. True success means not giving up. Even when your manuscript won’t cooperate or bad reviews are coming in instead of sales, keep going. Writing can get you through anything in life as long as giving up isn’t an option for you. You need to love it with everything you have and it will love you back – even if it’s not the way you expect it to.
