Meet Flashtide!

Orion has survived the tunnels of Outpost Five, filled with mutant creatures and dangers around every bend. She has traversed the cordons, exposed to the radiation of the flash curtain and hunted by forces that want her stopped, dead or alive. Now, with Dram by her side, she has made it to the safety of the mountain provinces, where free Conjurors live and practice their craft of manipulating matter.

But Orion's story is far from over.

With the effects of the flashfall spreading and the might of the protected city of Alara looming, Orion must travel into the hands of her enemies once again. Heart-pounding action and adventure await in Flashtide, Jenny Moyer's thrilling follow up to Flashfall.

~ Interview for Teen Read Week ~

YABC:  What current YA book would you recommend to your teenage self?

THE SCORPIO RACES by Maggie Stievater (one of my faves!) An incredibly well-written, gorgeous, compelling story of reinvented folklore about water horses and the people who tame them in order to ride in a deadly race.

YABC:  What advice would you give teens who might want to be a writer?

Read lots of books in the category and genre you like to write—and then read lots of books outside of those. Also, know that “writing is re-writing.” Lots of revision goes into developing a well-crafted story and characters. A draft is just a first step. Don’t be afraid of receiving constructive feedback, then working hard to edit and polish your manuscript.

YABC:  What book from your younger years do you still recommend today?

What 3 YA books would you love to recommend to our readers? THE WINNER’S CURSE series by Marie Rutkoski, (one of my favorites), FLAWED by Cecelia Ahern (a fantastic book for readers who enjoy dystopian), and THE FOREST OF HANDS ABD TEETH by Carrie Ryan (for readers who like a creepy, suspenseful, and unique zombie story.

My #1 favorite book (since I was little) is Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, but as a teen it probably tied with Carmilla by J. Sheridan Le Fanu and Touching Spirit Bear by Ben Mikaelsen.

Oh gosh! I started getting serious about reading books during my teenage years, so I had quite a few favorites including Girl of Fire and Thorns, the Twin’s Daughter, and *whispers* Twilight.
