~ Interview for Teen Read Week ~

YABC:   What book or books were your go-to choice when you were a teen?

I read almost anything by Meg Cabot! The Princess Diaries Series, 1-800-Where-R-You, Avalon High, Teen Idol, etc. Though she had so many books out, I never got a chance to read them all. I was a teen when Twilight hit, so that was a big one for me, too.

YABC:   Did you prefer a specific genre as a teen?

Or was any genre game?I would read almost anything YA, though I preferred the paranormal genre. Contemporary fiction was a close second.

YABC:   What current YA book would you recommend to your teenage self?

Do my own count? Lol! Actually, I wrote my first series knowing it was what I would have loved to read as a teen. These days, I'd tell myself to search Amazon for freebies instead of rereading everything in the library. Back then, Kindle and other eReaders weren't big. Teens have SO many choices these days, even if they don't have the money. As long as they have a phone, they have access to books.  Just a few books I would have loved to read as a teen include the Gryphon series by Stacey Rourke and the Going Down in Flames series by Chris Canon.

YABC:   What advice would you give teens who might want to be a writer?

Start writing NOW! Don't plan on publishing anything yet. Just write. You will learn so much and be such a better writer by the time you get out of high school. You're never too young to pursue writing.
