Meet Sarah Glenn Marsh!

Sarah Glenn Marsh

Sarah Glenn Marsh has been an avid fantasy reader from the day her dad handed her a copy of The Hobbit and promised it would change her life; she's been making up words and worlds ever since. When she's not writing, Sarah enjoys painting, ghost hunting, traveling, and all things nerdy. She lives in Richmond, Virginia, with her husband and their menagerie: four rescued greyhounds, a bird, and many fish. She is the author of Fear the Drowning Deep and Reign of the Fallen.

TOP 5 YA BOOKS I’D LOVE TO SEE AS MOVIES

  1. The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers: This diverse, sweet, surprising story would surely draw Firefly fans to the theater. It has a similar vibe thanks to its ‘found family’ cast on board a ship, and takes place in a thoughtfully imagined universe that would easily expand into the realm of visual storytelling.
  2. Queens of Geek by Jen Wilde: This would be the perfect summer rom-com. Anxiety rep and a comic convention—what more could any nerd want in a movie? Oh wait, I know. This book also has fantastic bi rep, which is something we so rarely (if ever) see on the big screen.
  3. Dear Martin by Nic Stone: One of the best books of 2017 needs a movie version. Sure, it would be a process to adapt the story from the book’s unique structure (since Justyce writes letters to Dr. King in parts), but I know the end result would be worth it. But—this probably goes without saying—we’d all need to be sure to bring tissues to the theater!
  4. Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco: This dark Victorian thriller would be the perfect movie to take us into autumn—or, if you’re like me and you enjoy a healthy dose of darkness and murder all year round—winter, spring, or summer, too.
  5. Forest of a Thousand Lanterns by Julie Dao: I know I’m not the only one who’d love to see this powerful, epic, female-driven villain origin story come to life on the big screen. Whether you love or loathe Xifeng, the gorgeously rendered world in which this story takes place would be sure to dazzle visually, just like it does on the page.
