Meet L.J.

L J Higgins writes fiction with an intriguing twist. Stories that make you question the world around you and make you think ‘what if?’

Always intrigued by what the future might hold, the advances in technology, conspiracies, and what they might mean for the human race, L J enjoys creating stories that explore these ideas. She creates believable futures, throws in characters you can relate to, and weaves them into fast paced stories you can’t put down.

Hailing from Queensland, Australia, she lives with her husband, son and daughter. She also loves to read, and enjoys her role as a staff reviewer for YABC. When she's not reading or writing you can find her at her weekly dance class, spending time with her family, or getting creative in her craft room.

Meet Skywatchers

Available in the YABC Holiday Anthology: Mistletoe & Magic

"With airships descending from the heavens, can Kylah survive Christmas Eve?"

They came from the sky.

Christmas Eve hadn’t been the same since Kylah lost her parents. She would’ve preferred to spend it with the only family she had left, her brother. Despite predictions of a meteor shower, Kylah ignores the warnings and lets her best friend drag her to a party. She didn’t know that night explosions would fill the heavens. No one told her what to do if large objects suddenly hovered above the city.

It wasn’t possible.

Until it was.

The chaos was inescapable. But the worst part was discovering the one person she trusted most in the world had been lying to her.

She’d get answers… she just had to find him first.

YABC: What was your inspiration for this story?

LJ: I watch a lot of different documentaries and when I came up with the idea behind Skywatchers was watching a few about aliens and the conspiracies surrounding them. I already had a main character in mind and they melded together perfectly.

YABC: Tell us about your other works or projects? Where can we find your books?

LJ: I currently have two Young Adult, Science Fiction, Dystopian series; the Dreamer Trilogy and the Secrets of Aurora series. The Dreamer Trilogy explores the lengths big corporations will go to in order to control the population, and Secrets of Aurora series is set in a post-apocalyptic Australia where everyone lives on cities floating above the Earth. They are both sprinkled with secrets and conspiracy. Both series can be found on Amazon.

YABC: When it's book haul time at YABC, how do you decide which books to request?

LJ: First I narrow down to the books written in the genre I feel like reading at the time or haven't read in a while, and then I read the blurbs.
