A Cute Story of A Boy and His Dog

ONLY MY DOG KNOWS I PICK MY NOSE features a little boy who hides his secrets from the world, but shares them with his dog. For example, his parents may believe he eats his broccoli, but only the dog knows where it really goes. The boy does everything with his dog and their friendship jumps off the page and comes to life before the reader’s eyes.

There’s a special bond between a person and their dog, but I haven’t seen any books with children at the center of it. When I first picked up this book, I thought it was going to be about how a boy hides his bad habits. I never expected it to address the bond between children and their pets. This is an added bonus that makes it perfect for any child with a pet. The illustrations are soft and cartoon-y in a way that’s reminds me of Caillou. The silliness on each page makes my five-year-old laugh out loud and it’s easily one of her new favorite books.

Final Verdict: I would recommend this book to children who love dogs, have a pet, or enjoy humor in books. The friendship and secrets shared between the boy and the dog is adorable and realistic.
