Today we're excited to celebrate the cover reveal for 

The Weight of a Soul by Elizabeth Tammi,

releasing December 3, 2019 from Flux/North Star Editions!

Before we get to the cover, here's a note from the author:

Hey YABC! Thank you so much for hosting the reveal for the cover of my second novel, The Weight of a Soul. I'm ridiculously thrilled with how it turned out, and it's been my phone's lockscreen since the day it was sent to me! I've been bursting with excitement to share it.

I've dubbed The Weight of a Soul as the darkest part of my heart. It's an intense book that delves into a lot of tough territory; in addition, Norse mythology is incredibly nuanced and captivating, and I wanted to make sure my cover reflected the beautiful darkness that this lore is shrouded in. I think the designer, Jake Nordby, (who also worked on my debut novel's cover!) did another fabulous job at capturing the aesthetic and vein of this story. The color scheme and the descending roots of Yggdrasil are magnificent, and definitely indicative of the story's heart. I feel really lucky that this gets to be on the front of my book, and I'm beyond excited to see this in its printed form once advanced copies come out this summer!

About the Book

When Lena's younger sister Fressa is found dead, their whole Viking clan mourns—but it is Lena alone who never recovers. Fressa is the sister that should've lived, and Lena cannot rest until she knows exactly what killed Fressa and why—and how to bring her back. She strikes a dark deal with Hela, the Norse goddess of death, and begins a new double life to save her sister.

But as Lena gets closer to bringing Fressa back, she dredges up dangerous discoveries about her own family, and finds herself in the middle of a devastating plan to spur Ragnarök –a deadly chain of events leading to total world destruction. 

Still, with her sister's life in the balance, Lena is willing to risk it all. She's willing to kill. How far will she go before the darkness consumes her?

About the Author

Elizabeth Tammi has lived in California, Florida, and England, but currently resides in Georgia where she double-majors in Creative Writing and Journalism as an undergraduate at Mercer University. When she's not writing, you can probably find Elizabeth at rehearsal, or at work for her university's newspaper and literary magazine. Her other interests include traveling, caffeinated beverages, and mythology. Her debut novel was Outrun the Wind. I am loving this cover!!! The tree of life has great meaning and symbolism for me, and I love how its depicted on the cover. As for the synopsis I also LOOOOVE Norse mythology! I cant wait to dig into this book!
