OtherSideLost-HC-final-header

Hi, YABCers!

Today we're super excited to celebrate the cover reveal for THE OTHER SIDE OF LOST by Jessi Kirby, releasing August 7, 2018 from Harper Teen. Before we get to the cover, here's a note from Jessi:

Hello YABC!

I am beyond excited to be able to show you the cover for my next book, THE OTHER SIDE OF LOST! Of all the books I’ve written, this one is closest to my heart, so of course I was nervous about what the cover might look like. I had no idea what to expect.  Luckily, the team at HarperTeen is nothing short of amazing, and when I saw this, I knew it was perfect. I love every detail of it, from the map background, to each of the sketches, to the colors and fonts that make it pop. And there will even more artwork inside the pages!  Which I am also excited for you to see! In fact, I’m so excited that I’ll be giving away three signed ARCs just as soon as they’re printed, so be sure to enter for your chance to win one!

~Jessi

About the Book

Girl Online meets Wild in this emotionally charged novel about disconnecting to find what’s real.

So wait a second…you’re gonna use social media to quit social media???

How do none of you see that she’s just doing this for attention? This girl is a total fake.
Even her “boyfriend” is fake.

Please. Go live your life where none of us have to hear from you ever again.

Seriously, you’re complaining about your life “looking” too perfect?

Mari Turner’s life is perfect.  At least to her thousands of social media followers.  They don’t realize that, for her, each carefully-constructed photo is an empty distraction from the fact that she has no direction in life, no real friends, and no idea how she got to such an isolated place.  After a lonely birthday spent posting “perfect” photos, Mari does something she hasn’t for a very long time.  She looks into the lens of her camera, and she tells the truth.  Then she posts it for the world to see.  And when her video confession goes viral, Mari is even more desperate to escape.

Then the package arrives. A box full of hiking gear that belonged to her late cousin Bri. Mari and Bri shared the same birthday, and they always talked about hiking the John Muir Trail together when they turned eighteen. That was before Mari got so wrapped up in her online world that she turned her back on their friendship. Mari may have zero experience following a map or climbing rocks, but as lost as she’s been feeling, one or two wrong turns aren’t going to make a difference.

With Bri’s boots and trail diary as her guide—as well as a group of strangers that become friends—Mari slowly navigates the demanding terrain of the trail.  But the true challenge lies within, as she searches for the way back from lost to found.

LOVE the cover, it is adorable! And I think that the concept sounds great- the hiking part seems like it could lend itself to adventure, and I think that the rest of it will be quite emotionally powerful!

The cover is super minimalistic, but really cute. I love the colour scheme chosen for the art as well. The synopsis sounds very interesting, and I would love to read how the story unfolds.
