Hi, YABCers!
Today we’re super excited to celebrate the cover reveal for THE FORGETTING by Sharon Cameron, releasing September 13, 2016 from Scholastic. Before we get to the cover, here’s a note from Sharon:
Hey, world! I am thrilled beyond words to present the cover of my next novel, THE FORGETTING, coming Fall of 2016. Please look for a long time and indulge in the purply, twiny-root goodness of this cover, so lovingly crafted by the talents at Scholastic Press. That’s pretty much what I’ve been doing ever since it hit my inbox. You know we just announced this book yesterday, and…
Oh, sorry. Got distracted. I was staring at my beautiful cover. I was going to say that we just announced this book yesterday… Did you see the way those roots are going all twisty through the letters?
Gah. Sorry! I really wanted to say that we just announced this book, and how excited we are about it… Tree!
Never mind. Let’s just all look at the lovely cover of THE FORGETTING, shall we? Thank you, Scholastic Press!!

THE FORGETTING
In a society that loses its collective memory, one girl remembers everything. Beloved author of Rook Sharon Cameron takes readers by storm with her brilliant foray into science fiction.
Seventeen-year-old Nadia lives in Canaan, a quiet city in an idyllic world, hemmed in by high walls that are constructed of a material no one in her town recognizes. Every twelve years, the people of Canaan undergo a collective Forgetting, in the days before which the town devolves into a chaos of bloody violence, and after which the people are left without any trace of memory of themselves, their families, their lives. Nadia has never forgotten, however. As the next Forgetting approaches, Nadia is determined to find out what causes it and whether there is any way to stop it. With the help of Gray, the handsome glassblower’s son, she discovers that there is a devious plot afoot… one that keeps the people of Canaan permanently subdued. Will Nadia be able to solve the mystery before the people forget the truth? And before Gray forgets her?
A remarkable story of memory and loss, love and indomitable courage.

I adore this book’s cover! Honestly I will read anything Sharon Cameron writes – it could be a book about peeling potatoes and I’d be on board. I loved The Dark Unwinding, A Spark Unseen, Rook! Can’t wait to read this new one. 🙂
Thank you!
So excited to read another book by the amazing Sharon Cameron! It looks gorgeous, and I can’t wait to see what twisting, winding, crazy storytelling she has for us this time!
This sounds amazing! I am very intrigued. I will definitely be reading this!
I really want to read this! I love the cover!
I think the cover looks amazing! I can’t wait to read this book! The synopsis has got me so excited
it looks interesting and sounds very exciting
The cover is beautiful!!!
Sounds very interesting and the cover is intriguing and will get a reader to pick up the book!
I love this cover and can’t wait to read
To what mythical realm do Grubb and Alistair Grim travel in this book? I am not sure where to find the answer to this. I already have Rook on my tbr, and I like the cover and blurb to The Forgetting!
What do you think about the cover and synopsis?
The cover is fascinating! I love how it’s gradient purple, which happens to be my favorite color! It’s intriguing how the roots of the tree, which I believe is a major element in the story, wrap around the title, which is, THE FORGETTING. I also love the subtitle, “I am made of my memories…”. The three dots make me more curious than I already am. The synopsis is nothing less attracting! I was somewhat reminded of, “The Giver”. I love how Nadia is the only one who remembers everything instead of a group of people who have to work together to fix things. Its so mysterious how she’s all on her own in this mission, and it’s a perfect mix! I’m jumping upside-down to get my hands on a copy of this fascinating book, thanks to the creative cover, and intriguing synopsis!
The forgetting sounds like a great story ♡ and the cover is beautiful! Thank you
From the synopsis I assume that chaos of the Forgetting is the mystical realm they travel to?
First of all–the cover is my favorite color. Secondly, it matches the synopsis well; family trees are all about roots and so are memories. Just a reminder, a smell, sound, visual, can bring back so much.
I love the cover and they travel to probably a place called Forgetting!
I do not see a mythical place that they travel to, but I love the synopsis and the idea that the process of forgetting may not work on someone.
I love the cover and the synoposis is great because it doesn’t tell you too uch but it it still grabs your attention.
