Today we're excited to celebrate the cover reveal for

THE FANTASTICAL EXPLOITS OF GWENDOLYN GRAY by B.A. Watson,

releasing April 28, 2020 from Jolly Fish Press/North Star Editions!

Before we get to the cover, here's a note from the author:

Hi YABCers!

It can be gauche to brag about one's work, but since the cover itself is not my own, I have no trouble gushing about it. Sanjay Carlton and Jake Slavik made an amazing cover for the first Gwendolyn Gray book. This one, however... this one truly blows my mind.

Sanjay and Jake have really upped their game here, once again responding to my insane imagination and every ridiculous note. "Can I have a magical library? Flying books? And fairy land? And can it mirror the first book so they connect when put side by side? And by the way, here's an entire novel just to describe her dress and boots..." And they succeeded beyond my wildest, pickiest dreams. When they came back with the colored version, I was able to use a phrase I'd never before uttered: "No notes!" (which floored my editors.)

Enormous thanks must go to the logo designers for a detail I hadn't noticed until I blew this up to poster size: the GWENDOLYN GRAY text has a rough and craggy texture, compared to the slick perfection of the title on the first book. I never asked for this. But they understand the book so well that they reflected Gwendolyn's rather rough personal journey through depression and mania, and they did it in the very texture of the title. Gwendolyn is breaking down, and so is her name on the cover. Mind. Blown.

Thank you to everyone who worked on this and all the staff at Jolly Fish Press and North Star Editions for completely understanding my vision, sharing it, building on it, and bending over backwards to make sure my every diva-esque whim was fulfilled. I know few authors who get that much input or control, and I'm grateful.

Now, without further gilding the lily, let's get down to business.

~B.A. Watson

THE FANTASTICAL EXPLOITS OF GWENDOLYN GRAY

B.A. Watson

Release date: April 28, 2019

About the Book

Heroes never return from adventure unchanged, and Gwendolyn Gray knows this better than anyone. She faces a new darkness within herself—with no help or comfort from her friends Sparrow and Starling. On top of that, the City is only getting worse. When the Faceless Gentlemen return to menace her again, Gwendolyn escapes to the lands of the Fae. But even the dreamlike Faeoria holds dangers that even she could never have imagined. Gwendolyn must learn to master control her magic and manage her internal struggles if she ever hopes to defeat the villainous forces that control the City, find Sparrow and Starling, and save the people she loves.

About the Author

B. A. Williamson is the author of The Marvelous Adventures of Gwendolyn Gray and The Fantastical Exploits of Gwendolyn Gray. When not mining the unfathomable depths of consciousness for new words to sling, he can be found wandering Indianapolis, directing plays, child taming, and probably singing entirely too loud. Please direct all complaints and your darkest secrets to @bawrites or gwendolyngray.com.
