It’s Live!! Cover Reveal: Refraction by Naomi Hughes + Giveaway (US Only)
Today we're excited to celebrate the cover reveal for
Refraction by Naomi Hughes,
releasing November 5, 2019 from Page Street Publishing!
Before we get to the cover, here's a note from the author:
Hey YABC! Welcome to the cover reveal for REFRACTION!
My name is Naomi Hughes, and at this very moment, I am desperately trying to contain my flails over the beauty that is this cover. When the team at Page Street first asked me for cover thoughts, my ideas were mostly "uhhhh, a mirror? Or something?" What my fabulous designer, Rosie Stewart, and the rest of the team at Page Street did with that not-so-helpful little gem of a suggestion is downright miraculous. I'm 100% head-over-heels in love with the final product. It transmits the tone of the story so well: the eeriness! The intensity! Even Marty, the main character, looks exactly like I'd imagined him. Okay, now I'm flailing again. I'm going to go take some deep, calming breaths while you check out the cover so that you, too, can join in with my flailing. After that, don't forget to mark your calendar for November 5th, when REFRACTION will release!

About the Book
After an attack on earth, all reflective surfaces become weapons to release monsters, causing a planet-wide ban on mirrors. Despite the danger, the demand rises, and 17-year-old Marty Callahan becomes a distributor in an illegal mirror trade―until he’s caught by the mayor's son, whose slate is far from clean. Both of them are exiled for their crimes to one of the many abandoned cities overrun by fog. But they soon realize their thoughts influence their surroundings and their deepest fears begin to manifest.
With fast pacing and riveting characters, this is a book that you’ll finish in one sitting.
About the Author
Naomi Hughes grew up all over the U.S. before finally settling in the Midwest, a place she loves even though it tries to murder her with tornadoes every spring. She writes quirky young adult fiction full-time. When she's not writing she likes to read, travel with her family, and geek out over British TV and Marvel superheroes.
3 winners will each receive one ARC of REFRACTION + one HC copy of AfterImage (Naomi's debut). You can find more information about After Image below. US Only.
"This tale deserves a prominent place on sci-fi shelves." ―SLJ
“[This] high-action, science-fiction thriller starts with a bang and never slows for a beat. …[P]lot twists, flashbacks, and alternate timelines keep the story full of surprises. A wild, fast-paced ride full of unexpected turns.” ―Kirkus Reviews
A horrific explosion levels part of the city and Camryn Kingfisher is the sole survivor.
Amidst controversy, conspiracy theories, and threats from government officials, Camryn longs for the truth. But the only person who she can turn to is a transparent boy in a lab coat named Quint. Unsure whether he’s a hallucination or a ghost, Camryn has no choice but to trust him as they become embroiled in a plot that is bigger than either of them realize.
In a race where the fabric of time and space is at stake, they must figure out who caused the explosion before the culprit comes back to finish Camryn―and her city―off for good.

I enjoyed over read your blog post. This was actually what i was looking for and i am glad to came here!
Woah, this book cover and title! I think the splintered mirror is an awesome way to foreshadow a text world where mirrors are dangerous, black-market objects. And just looking at the cover has me asking questions about the protagonist (Marty)... In what ways has his life been “fractured”?
I think the synopsis does more than introduce Marty and set up some central conflicts. I think the synopsis promises this novel will be a suspenseful, propulsive read!
