It's Live!! Cover Reveal: R is for Rebel by J. Anderson Coats + Giveaway (US/Canada)

2017-3-13-Rebel-Cover-600x900-final-header

Hi, YABCers!

Today we're excited to celebrate the cover reveal for R IS FOR REBEL by J. Anderson Coats, releasing Spring 2018, from Atheneum Books for Young Readers. Before we get to the cover, here's a note from J.:

Hello YABC! Thanks for stopping by the cover reveal for R IS FOR REBEL!

You’ll often hear that most writers get limited input on covers. Sometimes you win the cover lottery anyway, and I could not be happier that the folks at Atheneum were able to secure the talented Maike Plenzke for this one. Her art style is striking and dramatic and engaging, full of motion and energy, and yet charming and inviting--the kind of worlds you want to move into and then apply for citizenship.  She has an awesome tumblr (http://maikeplenzke.tumblr.com/) that you should check out if you want to see more. I love this cover so much, and I hope you do, too.

About the Book

Malley has led the constables on a merry chase across the once peaceful country of Mille. With her parents in prison for their part in a failed resistance movement, the government wants to send her to a national school - though they’ll have to capture her first.

And capture her they do. Malley is carted off to be reformed as a proper subject of the conquering empire, reeducated and made suitable for domestic service.

That’s the government’s plan, anyway.

But Malley will not go down without a fight. She’s determined to rally her fellow students to form a rebellion of their own. The government can lock these girls up in reform school. Whether it can break them is another matter . . .

Omg!! I love books with a powerful female role! It sounds like Malley isn't the cliche YA heroine. The cover is amazing! It perfectly depicts what the story is going to be about!

I think this would be a fantastic story for my son. Something he can learn from and be inspired by.

The plot sounds powerful and inspiring. The cover is a little 'meh' for my taste but for a middle-grade book it works. A simple glance at the cover art will easily tell you what the book will be about.
