It’s Live! Cover Reveal: Phoebe Unfired by Amalie Jahn + Giveaway (US Only)
We're so excited to celebrate the cover reveal for
Phoebe Unfired by Amalie Jahn,
releasing 6/15/2021 from Bermlord Publications!
Before we get to the cover, here's a note from the author:
Hi YABC!!! I'm so excited to reveal the cover for my latest book, PHOEBE UNFIRED, with you today! The process itself was nerve-wracking--not knowing whether the artwork (my first illustrated cover!) would encompass not only Phoebe's reluctant nature but also the hopeful tone of the book. Needless to say, I'm thrilled by the result, and I believe the artist beautifully captured the reality of Phoebe's world. I hope all of you love it as much as I do, and that you pick up a copy to enjoy it for yourself in June! (Want the book sooner? Enter my cover reveal giveaway for a chance to win a signed ARC!)

About the Book
Sixteen-year-old Phoebe Benson wasn’t always germophobic.
There was a time she didn’t worry obsessively about rogue pathogens lurking on every surface, lying in wait to contaminate her.
But that was before her brother Toby’s premature birth left him with underdeveloped lungs. Before she got Covid and infected him, putting his already fragile life in danger.
To protect Toby’s health in the years that follow, Phoebe dedicates herself to pathogen avoidance, refusing to touch any potential sources of contamination—handrails, doorknobs, vending machine buttons, and even other people—leading to an unintended life of seclusion. By the time she reaches high school, her only sources of respite are pottery class and her friendship with Walter, the elderly owner of the used bookstore where she works part-time.
Now Walter’s devised a plan to help Phoebe overcome her anxiety, and she must decide whether to continue isolating herself or risk everything initiating a friendship with the charming subway busker she can’t help but want to touch.

I like the cover and this book sounds like it will be emotional to read.
This is the first YA book I've seen that relates to how teens are handling the pandemic. It's much needed.
