Welcome, YABCers!

Today we’re super excited to celebrate the cover reveal for INTO THE DIM by Janet B. Taylor, releasing March 1, 2016 from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. Before we get to the cover, here’s a note from Janet:

Hey YABC! Welcome to the exclusive cover reveal for INTO THE DIM!!

I’m so excited to reveal this yum-yum cover! Now, I know ya’ll probably assume that I am the model on INTO THE DIM’s cover, looking all beautiful and mysterious surrounded by those luscious snowy mountains. Alas, I am NOT. The unbelievably talented Michael Heath and the gorgeous young model are the ones who braved the high peaks and frigid temperatures of the perilous Colorado mountains to get the cover JUST perfect. I, on the other hand, stayed safe and toasty inside my house. (Though I did fall out of my chair when I saw the cover, does that count as peril?)

I’m forever grateful to HMH for hiring such fantastic talent, and to Michael Heath, whose vision captures INTO THE DIM’s main character so perfectly!

(And pssst…I hear we’re going to see a new combination of the same artist/model on INTO THE DIM: Book 2 (title pending), coming in Spring 2017!) Yay!!!

INTO THE DIM

by Janet B. Taylor
Release date: March 1, 2016
Publisher: Houghton Mifflin Harcourt

About the Book

In Hope Walton’s small town, being the “homeschooled girl” with crippling phobias doesn’t exactly endear her to her adoptive dad’s perfectly blond, perfectly southern family. But when her mom is killed in a natural disaster thousands of miles from home, Hope’s secluded world crumbles. Foisted off on an aunt she’s never met, Hope travels to Scotland where she soon discovers that her mom was more than a brilliant academic: she was a member of a secret society of time travelers. And she’s alive, though currently trapped in the twelfth century, during the age of King Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine. Now Hope must conquer her fears and travel back in time to rescue her mom before she’s lost for good.

Along the way, she’ll learn more family secrets, and meet a mysterious boy who could be vital to setting her mother free . . . or the key to Hope’s undoing.

“[I]NTO THE DIM is a time-travel adventure that will leave readers breathless.  Janet Taylor has woven a story that will capture adventure seekers and romance lovers and pull them along for the ride.”
— Joelle Charbonneau – New York Times Best Selling author of THE TESTING trilogy

“[J]anet B Taylor’s INTO THE DIM is one truly enjoyable read. A fast-paced, time-travel adventure with rogue Tesla science and Middle Ages history, it will make you want to jump back into the English court, after a proper round of smallpox and typhoid vaccines, of course.”
—Kendare Blake, author of ANNA DRESSED IN BLOOD

“[J]anet B. Taylor’s INTO THE DIM shines bright.  This debut time travel novel captures the imagination and takes the reader on a fascinating journey to 12th century England, deftly weaving historical characters like Eleanor of Aquitaine and Thomas Becket into the drama. Rich with period detail, and an intriguing lead character, this is YA science fiction at its best.”
— Rysa Walker, Bestselling author of THE CHRONOS FILES

“[S]cience, historical fantasy, time travel adventure, magic gemstones, star-crossed loves, a quest of the heart, and the constant threat of impending doom…Janet Taylor’s INTO THE DIM checks all my must-have boxes!”
—Alethea Kontis, author of THE WOODCUTTER SERIES

b2ap3_thumbnail_9809333.jpgAbout the Author

Janet Taylor lives in such a small town in Arkansas that if you happen to sneeze when you pass by, you’ll totally miss it. (Cause, you know, you can’t sneeze with your eyes open. For real–try it–it’s impossible)

Her debut novel, INTO THE DIM (coming March 1st, 2016 from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt) is about a 16 year old girl who travels through time. Like…totally on purpose and stuff. Janet’s a reader/fan first and a writer second. She lives with her fantastic husband, two hilarious sons, and Dorda the diabetic dog who won’t win any beauty contests, but has a “nice personality.”
