Hi, YABCers!

Today we’re super excited to celebrate the cover reveal for FOR THIS LIFE ONLY by Stacey Kade, releasing August 30, 2016 from Simon & Schuster. Before we get to the cover, here’s a note from Stacey:

Hello YABC! I’m so excited to be here for the exclusive cover reveal for FOR THIS LIFE ONLY! This is my first YA contemporary and a deeply personal book for me. I’m a PK (pastor’s kid) and this story is about the son of a pastor who nearly dies in an accident that kills his twin. Only he didn’t see the light or hear God during his near-death experience, and now he’s struggling to figure out what he believes, on top of the guilt he feels for surviving when his brother died. It is a book I wish I’d had when I was trying to figure things out as a teen and early twenty-something.

The cover is gorgeous and so intricately detailed. It has an almost dream-like quality to it, which I think is absolutely perfect for the tone of the book. Huge thanks to the artist Eiko Ojala and to the S&S designer, Krista Vossen!

About the Book
Three minutes. Jace Palmer died for three life-changing minutes.

And when he wakes, nothing is the same. Elijah, his twin brother, is dead, and his family is broken. Jace’s planned future is crushed, along with his pitching arm. Everyone keeps telling him that Eli’s in a better place, but Jace isn’t so sure. Because in those three minutes, the bright light and welcoming voice promised by his church and his pastor father–they weren’t there.

Overwhelmed by guilt and doubt, Jace struggles to adjust to this new version of the world, one without his brother, one without the certainties he once relied on. And then Thera comes into his life.

She’s the last girl he should be turning to for help.

But she’s also the first person to truly see him.

I really like the cover art–it’s visually interesting and the papercraft is simple but pretty. The synopsis sounds interesting! Like it’s a slice-of-life and personal-betterment kind of story instead of an adventure one, though.

THE COVER!!! This really reminded me of Rachel’s hobby in Me and Earl and The Dying Girl movie! I have no idea what it’s called but I know that it’s a unique paper art and I really want to try doing something like this. Anyway, reading the synopsis and connecting it to the cover it really speaks a lot. It has the church so that means that it’s a big part of the story. But I wouldn’t have guessed the tragedy from the cover. I really think that this would also have a really deep love story just basing from the cover. Well, i’m looking forward to this book and crossing my fingers I would get picked! Oh and congrats to Stacey Kade for the new book!

I’m a fan of 3-D art so this is so beautiful to me! The cover matches the exciting synopsis as it shows multi-dimensional aspects of what seems to be mirrored faces, but are twins.
