Hi, YABCers!

Today we’re super excited to celebrate the new cover reveal for WAIT FOR ME by Caroline Leech, releasing January 31, 2017 from Harper Teen. Before we get to the cover, here’s a note from Caroline:

I am thrilled to be able to share with you the beautiful cover for my debut novel, WAIT FOR ME. The story is set in the spring of 1945 – the last few weeks of World War Two – when a young German prisoner of war comes to work on a Scottish farm. I hope that you agree that the Harper Collins team, and in particular, the cover’s designer, Aurora Parlagreco, has done a wonderful job creating an image which brings the nostalgic romance of a warm day walking together through a field of long grass, yet taints it with the ever-present threat of war. My Harper Teen editor, Alice Jerman, and I are so excited to be another step forward on the path to the publication of WAIT FOR ME, and we hope that you can hear this evocative cover calling you to Scotland, in the same way I can hear it calling me home.

About the Book

Can their love survive a war?

It’s 1945, and Lorna Anderson’s life on her father’s farm in Scotland consists of endless chores and rationing, knitting Red Cross scarves, and praying for an Allied victory. So when Paul Vogel, a German prisoner of war, is assigned as the new farmhand, Lorna is appalled. How can she possibly work alongside the enemy when her own brothers are risking their lives for their country?

But as Lorna reluctantly spends time with Paul, she feels herself changing. The more she learns about him—from his time in the war to his life back home in Germany—the more she sees the boy behind the soldier. Soon Lorna is battling her own warring heart. Loving Paul could mean losing her family and the life she’s always known. With tensions rising all around them, Lorna must decide how much she’s willing to sacrifice before the end of the war determines their fate.

I don’t find the cover at all interesting, but the setting — both the time and the place — is a significant draw for me. I think I’d enjoy this book very much! Best, Kara S

This book sounds SO, so amazing! I love the setting, the time period, and the cover completely fits how I’d envision it in my head! I cannot wait to read this, thanks so much for the chance to win!

The cover lets you know almost immediately that you’re dealing with a WWII book and that it will be a romance. So many covers anymore are so vague; you have no idea what you’re getting into. I like how it is straightforward but not boring.

The girl must be dealing with many hardships excluding this love for Paul. In history, a girls parents and family always came first but it would be great to see someone take a turn.

The cover pulls at my heartstrings before even reading a word! That is my favorite subject, history. I cannot wait!

I love stories about WWII as well as stories about people who learn about someone else in a way that completely changes their perspective of them. Sounds like it will be a great read!

I love the cover. It’s simple but it caught my eye and brought me here!

I love the cover, it catches the eye and immediately made me think of war with the planes in the back intruding on what would otherwise be an idyllic looking day. I love the synopsis as well, my favorite part of historical books is that I always feel I like I learn something I hadn’t known otherwise about that event before and just reading the synopsis I feel I’ve already learned something new. This looks like a book to look forward to.

I love the cover and find it perfect for this exciting historical fiction novel. I love reading more about this time in our history.

I love the cover and the way it makes me feel. I think it sets the mood for the book and I love how nothing takes attention away from something else
