It's Live!! Cover Reveal: Another D for DeeDee by Bibi Belford + Giveaway (US Only)
Today we're excited to celebrate the cover reveal for ANOTHER D FOR DEEDEE by Bibi Belford, releasing September, 2017, from Sky Pony Press. Before we get to the cover, here's a note from Bibi:
What’s up, readers?
It’s DeeDee—you know, Dinora Diaz, but don’t call me by that name, puh-lease. I’m popping in to comment on the cover reveal of Another D for DeeDee—yes, that’s me, DeeDee—because the author, Bibi Belford, is supposedly at work. Doing what, you ask? Teaching readers to read.
She’s such a poser.
Anyway: Oh my gato! Look at that book cover. That designer Sammy Yuen really brings it. The bling in those purple shoes? And that board? Sick, right?
I’m really stoked about being in a book. I mean, I’m only a beginning skater. My new friend River is so rad, it’s insane, so he’s coaching me. But I’ve got some D’s in my life. On my report card as well as in my family. My Dad is missing, my sister Danita is bossy, and my brother Daniel goes to night school. And if you must know, I just found out I’ve got Diabetes. But I’m not going to let that Discourage me. River says everyone has Distinctions that make them unique.
And speaking of Distinctions, take a look at that cover again. Que suave, no? I mean, I probably could have designed my own. I do have all 120 crayon colors memorized. Can you beat that, Sammy Yuen? Except, wait a sec, what's in that fast-food bag I see? I’m totally starving. And I’m not even sharing, so once it’s Devoured, all you’ll see left on the cover are my gnarly board and sparkly shoes!
Adios, for now!

Here it is!

ANOTHER D FOR DEEDEE
Life for Dinora Diaz, DeeDee for short, is full of Ds.
Missing her dad, who’s disappeared. Being diagnosed with diabetes. Feeling dumb in fourth grade at her new school, which she transferred into—leaving behind Sandro Zapote and all her other friends in Miss Hamilton’s class—after her family’s trailer burned down. It’s so many Ds that DeeDee’s sure she’ll never really fit in, much less find the perfect best friend she’s always wanted.
Then DeeDee meets River. He’s a lot like her: River loves skateboarding, art, and dancing, just like she does, and he misses his dad, too. But they’re also different: while DeeDee’s still struggling to adjust to life with diabetes and has sworn off her Mexican heritage to get back at her dad for leaving, River seems to have totally adjusted to—even learned to love—being deaf. River promises to help search for DeeDee’s dad and to compete with her in the spring skateboard exhibition at their local skate park. Finally, DeeDee has something to look forward to.
But when River transfers into DeeDee’s fourth grade class, DeeDee makes a huge mistake, putting not just the exhibition, but her entire friendship with River, on the line. Now she has to make a choice: stand up to her classmates and accept being an outsider, or give up her best friend for good? To keep the best friend she’s always wanted, DeeDee will have to learn to love difference—not just River’s but also her own.
