Infographic: World Reading Habits in 2020
Have you wondered how other people spent their time in lockdown this year?
While the pandemic has led to FaceBook, YouTube and Netflix increasing their usage, and enrolments in online education platforms like MasterClass exploding, an age-old pastime has also been popular — reading books.
Editing and proofreading service Global English Editing wanted to find out exactly how the world’s reading habits changed in 2020.
A few of their surprising findings include:
35% of people said they read more this year than in previous years.
Millenials were the generation who had the biggest uptick, with 40% reading more due to coronavirus
Print books are still more popular than eBooks, although the gap narrowed this year.
Maybe because social isolation prevented single people from finding love, romance books flew off the shelf this year.
If you found solace (or at least a welcome distraction) in your favorite books this year, you certainly weren’t alone.
