You don’t want to miss these talented authors
This week we are interviewing, Kristi K. Hoffman, M.S., author of The Total Package Girl: Discover The Ultimate You for Life!
YABC: Tell us a little about your book, Total Package Girl.
Kristi: Total Package Girl is a book for every teen and pre-teen girl who is living through the challenges of growing up in a challenging, tech-savvy world, where popularity -- and bullying -- are ubiquitous and never-ending. This book is filled with intelligence and secret weapons to help girls stay strong and confident through any situation that comes her way. And, she can carry these skills through life, to reach her goals and dreams.
YABC: I really wish I had something like Total Package Girl when I was a teen. What inspired you to write a guidebook for girls?
Kristi: Whether in the business arena, or going back to high school and junior high days, I’ve seen my share of women not helping women out. I wanted to write a book where girls could learn “secret weapons” at a young age that would take them through life’s difficult learning moments, tied to friendships, peer pressure, fitting in, finding herself, etc. My goals is to have this book sitting on every girl’s night stand, and being used very often to help navigate life. Total Package Girl is an essential learning tool for life for each teen and pre-teen girl.
YABC: My favorite part of your program is how you teach young girls to empower themselves by learning to accept themselves as they are, right now. Can you give us some examples of this aspect of the Total Package Girl lifestyle for our readers?
Kristi: First, knowing where you find your confidence is critical. Find what your talents are and what you love to do and blend them. That is what a Total Package Girl does and that is where her confidence truly is found. Also, Total Package Girl teaches girls to run their own race, to not worry about what others’ races looks like, and to
#jbu -- to be their own true selves (just be you).
YABC: You have an impressive background with so much experience in television and media. Can you tell us how that has helped you develop your program?
Kristi: Working on air in television has opened my eyes to the scrutiny women and girls face every day to look “perfect” not only in the media but in their daily lives. If we can teach girls to love and respect their bodies and their brains and their spirits (this is what I call their “Total” Package) just as they are at this moment, we have succeeded in raising a generation of confident, purposeful girls who then become confident women in whatever life path they choose.
YABC: What is your favorite part of Total Package Girl?
Kristi: Wow, that’s a tough one because this book is an amazing evolution and revelation for each girl at every point. Total Package Girl is written in 4 parts so it evolves! From talking about mean girls and Total Package Girls, to revealing Secret Weapons for success, to having tough talk about life’s Absolute Realities, to developing their very own Master Plan, every part will resonate with every girl a little differently, depending on her very own life circumstances at that moment in time. I love each part for different reasons. Each builds upon the next for a very great culmination in each girl’s own success strategy for life.
YABC: What would you say is the most important lesson a teen can learn when she’s struggling to find her place within her social world?
Kristi: Stay strong in exactly who you are. There will be mean people -- don’t succumb. You will make mistakes -- forgive yourself. You will be scared -- face your fears. You will have people who throw you under the bus and people who are your TruBlue friends -- stay close to the TruBlues. Teens and pre-teens are so special. I want every single girl to know that she is just that -- special and amazing beyond her imagination.
YABC: What other programs/presentations/classes related to Total Package Girl do you offer?
Kristi: Total Package Girl is not only a book and workbook/journal, but we also offer many products for girls including on-line courses, a lifestyle app -- Total Package Lifestyle -- with daily positive mantras, chat rooms, “Ask Kristi” and more. We also have a Girl Scouts participation patch and I do keynote speeches and media interviews across the country so that I can meet thousands of girls and get this message of confidence, leadership, and personal success to each girl. Something very fun Total Package Girl is doing is hosting amazing #BeTheForce events across the country, which are empowering Girl Leadership Summits where I team up with a rock-star group of girls, women, mentors, and amazing individuals. It’s an experience like no other.
YABC: Do you speak at schools? How might we contact you for a speaking engagement?

I love the synopsis because every girl needs this book and experiences issues of self-doubt, etc. But, I think the cover should be real girls without all the makeup which is artificial confidence.
