BETWEEN THE SPARK AND THE BURN
About the Book
The conclusion to Between the Devil and The Deep Blue Sea, this gothic thriller romance with shades of Stephen King and Daphne du Maurier is a must-read for fans of Beautiful Creatures and Anna Dressed in Blood.
Freddie once told me that the Devil created all the fear in the world.
But then, the Devil once told me that it’s easier to forgive someone for scaring you than for making you cry.
The problem with River West Redding was that he’d done both to me.
The crooked-smiling liar River West Redding, who drove into Violet’s life one summer day and shook her world to pieces, is gone. Violet and Neely, River’s other brother, are left to worry—until they catch a two a.m. radio program about strange events in a distant mountain town. They take off in search of River but are always a step behind, finding instead frenzied towns, witch hunts, and a wind-whipped island with the thrum of something strange and dangerous just under the surface. It isn’t long before Violet begins to wonder if Neely, the one Redding brother she thought trustworthy, has been hiding a secret of his own . . .
Between the Spark and the Burn is the heart-pounding conclusion to the “lavishly rendered, darkly romantic, and beautifully unsettling [Between the Devil and The Deep Blue Sea.]”—Melissa Marr
Our Thoughts
I absolutely loved Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, and I loved spending time in Violet’s old, ruined mansion. But I must admit, the idea of traveling around with Violet and Neely is irresistible to me. I need this book now. And the cover is so striking. It feels cold and adventurous, yet also quite a bit scary. When the Redding brothers are around, you can’t help but feel that cold chill up your spine mixed with a bit of heat… Perfect.

NICE cover
The cover is amazing…love the frosty cold background up against the red hot burn!
I LOVE the snow! And the font is different this time but just as beautiful. DEVIL is one of my favourite covers and the sequel is gorgeous!
I am TOTALLY DIGGING THIS COVER. I LOVE the setting–totally not what I expected, when you compare it to DEVIL’s cover. This is going to look SO PRETTY when it’s on a finished copy! Congrats, April! And thanks for the giveaway!
I love it. I love the wintery-ness.
This cover is even more hauntingly gorgeous than the first book. Cannot wait to get my hands on it!

That’s a fantastic cover. I love the colors.
OMG! I love how it matches BETWEEN THE DEVIL AN THE DEEP BLUE SEA!

the cover is very wordy but i love the different fonts!
Oh, April… Penguin is definitely spoiling you! I love love love this cover! It complements the first book’s cover perfectly. I love how the first cover was dark (black was the predominant color), and this cover is light (white is the predominant color). I wonder what that means for Violet, River, etc…? 😀
Anyway, congratulations on receiving another stunning cover, April! And thank you so much for the giveaway 🙂
The cover is good but it doesn’t compare to the earlier book’s cover – that one was beautiful.
Gorgeous cover!
Love the typography (just like with Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea) and the image they choose 😀
It looks like an illusion.
I love the cover, especially the font! 🙂
The cover is gorgeous but doesn’t compare to the previous book’s cover. I don’t quite like the typography :p
I really like this cover. Particularly the colors.
I love the image on the cover and the black text font is really pretty, but the fonts for the words Spark and Burn are a little too jarring for me, otherwise it’s a pretty cover :0)
I always have had more of an interest in the typography used in YA, and this cover absolutely blew me away.
The cover is BEAUTIFUL and mysterious 🙂
Its beautiful and mysterious! 🙂
The cover is absolutely gorgeous! It entwines both the beauty of a black-and-white image and the splash of color that every cover needs to catch a reader’s attention. I love it.
You can see this is a kind of scary books, because of the sky and the big letters. Would attract my attention when I see it in the bookstore

Hmm, I like the first one better, but this one is extremely well done as well. The title definitely stands out and the two books will look great next to one another.
