Giveaway: THE NOCTURNALS: THE PECULIAR POSSUM (US Only)

Peculiar-Possum-3d-Shot-1

The Nocturnals: The Peculiar Possum (US Only)

Written by: Tracey Hecht

Illustrated by: Josie Yee

Release Date: October 2018

Publisher: Fabled Films Press

About the Book:

In The Peculiar Possum (HC, $12.99, October 2018), the Nocturnal Brigade—Dawn, a serious fox; Tobin, a sweet pangolin; and Bismark, the loudmouthed, pint-sized sugar glider—encounter a strange animal hanging by its tail from a tree. At first, they think this animal is weird, speaks a strange language, and should be avoided, but after learning more about Penny the possum, they realize just how similar they all are. The story is told with plenty of humor while underscoring the importance of respecting differences in others—a key lesson for children in this age group.

About the Author:

Tracey Hecht has written, directed, and produced for film. The American Bookselling Association chose the first book in her critically acclaimed middle grade series, The Nocturnals: The Mysterious Abductions, as a Kids’ Indie Next List pick. Last year, she expanded the series to include early reader books, The Moonlight Meeting and The Slithery Shakedown, for younger children so that families could share the reading experience together. In partnership with the New York Public Library, Tracey created a Read Aloud Writing Program that she has since conducted in over seventy schools, libraries, and bookstores across the country – both in person and virtually. Tracey has also been a panelist for the Americans Booksellers Association’s ABC Children’s Institute on how to run successful virtual author visits.

In February, the Wyndham Grand Hotels used Tracey Hecht and The Mysterious Abductions to launch a nationwide family program called Reconnected, a Family Experience, reminding families to slow down and enjoy their time together. In 2017, Fabled Films Press partnered with the Ryan Seacrest Foundation to bring The Nocturnals program to broadcast media centers within pediatric hospitals for children and their families in Washington D.C., Nashville, and Charlotte. She currently splits her time between New York City and Oquossoc, Maine, with her husband, four children, and puppy, Penny.
