About the Author
Aspiring avatar. Weaver of dreams. Lover of ladybugs. I was born in Pensacola, Florida, and grew up in California, accompanied by seven siblings, and surrounded by horses, real cowboys, and the occasional rattlesnake. I’ve always been drawn to helping others, a trait that began, to my mother’s horror, with bringing home swallow chicks stricken from their nests. My professional background includes lay minister, journalist, and infant massage instructor with at-risk mothers and babies. I studied Creative Writing and Literature at the University of California, Santa Cruz and Stanford University, and am a member of SCBWI, IBPA, NWA, and VFA. I live with my husband and son in a Carmel cottage old enough to make you sneeze. The Improbable Wonders of Moojie Littleman is my debut novel. It won the international 2015 Gelett Burgess Children’s Book Award, and is a finalist in the international Wishing Shelf Book Award 2016.

Kudos for writing a story that includes someone with disabilities. We need more books like that :0)
Thank you, Eddie. I agree with you!
This is a gorgeous cover! Your bio is captivating and I’d love you to write your biography, sounds fascinating! I love this story already!
Thank you so much, Stephanie. How nice to hear you love the cover! I’m new at YABC, and not sure yet how to socialize here. The “reply” to your comment wouldn’t work. Anyway, it’s lovely to connect with you. Bright blessings.
This novel sounds like a precious gem — I feel so lucky to have learned of its existence by reading this blog (to say nothing of the opportunity to win the book itself)! Many thanks, Kara S
PS Who can look at the cover when this content comes with so much literary swagger? 😉
I love, love the plot, and am looking forward to reading a book that treats a differently abled character as a well-rounded character rather than a straw-man. I’m also not surprised the cover art won an award, it is very interesting!
Thank you so much, Daniela! I hope you win!
Thank you so much, Kara. I hope peeps like the book. But mostly, I hope it feeds their souls.
I love when unexpected, unlikely characters become heroes. the cover is a mismatch of ideas and maybe I’ll find out why when I read this book.
It is a fantastic book cover! I want to read Moojie’s whole story! It sounds wonderful!
