About the Book

Lilywhite Abernathy—just Lily, to the very few in her inner circle—is a criminal. Her father’s “unconventional” business has meant a life of tightly-held secrets, concealed weaponry, and a strict code. Lily knows her place in this life and is accustomed to doing just as she pleases. But Lily’s crime isn’t being the daughter of a powerful mob boss. Her guilt lies in the other half of her DNA—the part that can coax ancient rumors from stones, summon fire with a thought, call plants to her aid, and use air to caress someone without ever touching them. Lily is part-fae, and illicit faery blood runs in her veins. Being fae is a crime in Lily’s world as, from the time before she was born, a war has been raging between earth and the Hidden Lands.

The Queen of Blood and Rage, ruler of the faery courts, will use any tactic necessary to avenge the tragic death of her heir—a death that was the fault of reckless humans. Lily’s father has shielded her from the repercussions of her ancestry—until her sixteenth birthday when she is sent to the prestigious St. Columba school, straight into the arms of the Black Diamonds. Mysterious, glamorous, bound together in their mission, but constantly at odds, Zephyr, Creed, Will, Reed, Violet and Alkamy are a sleeper cell of fae, planted in the human world to help destroy it from within. The Black Diamonds are short one member—and that’s where Lilywhite comes in. She’s been chosen from birth to be one of them. As Lily is brought up to speed on the mission the Queen has set for them, she must figure out if she’s willing to abandon her human life for the vicious, otherworldly rules of the family she never knew she had—or if she has a choice at all.

Melissa Marr revisits a fantasy realm rich in drama, tangled romance, and courtly intrigue in an opulent story of the precarious space between two dangerous worlds.

The cover looks really interesting and it actually pulls me right in, along with the synopsis. I think it's a good book already and I haven't even read it.

The cover is gorgeous! I've never read anything like what this synopsis promises of this book. I can't wait to read how this author built this fantasy world.

It's a lovely cover, and the synopsis made me want to read this book for myself, before I pass it around to all the grand girls I have who also LOVE to read so much. I LOVE finding new books for them and we all share.
