About the Author
Raised without television, Sarah Tregay started writing her own middle grade novels after she had read all of the ones in the library. She later discovered YA books, but never did make it to the adult section. When she isn’t not jotting down poems at stoplights, Sarah can be found hanging out with her “little sister” from Big Brothers Big Sisters. Sarah lives in Eagle, Idaho with her husband, two Boston Terriers, and an appaloosa named Mr. Pots.

Have you read any good YA books with LGBT characters? If so, please share your recs.
Will Grayson Will Grayson by John Green is a really good story with LGBT characters.
I just read Love Letters to the Dead, and two of Laurel’s female friends were in a relationship. One wanted to hide it. One wanted the embrace it.
I can recall a small role Patrick in “The Perks of Being a Wallflower”. I know of some Japanese mangas, light novels and/or made into anime series with LGBT topics and characters dealing in the YA high-school based stories such as Strawberry Panic, Maria-sama ga Miteru.
I’ve read Hushed and One Man Guy – both excellent reads.
Wildthorne by Jane Eagland. Takes place in19th century. Gothic romance with insane asylums and a great love between two women.
My favorite YA with LGBT characters in it is Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz.
I can’t think of any that I have read but I am really wanting to read One Man Guy!
The House Of Night series!
I haven’t read anything LGBT related (well some minor characters on some books) it will be something to new to read
I’ve read some good ones, including Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan and Ask the Passengers by A.S. King.
My favourite with LGBT characters is most definitely Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green. Loved that one.
One Man Guy is a really good LGBT book, but besides that I haven’t read many books where the main character is LBGT.
Christina R. in the rafflecopter
I LOVED Miranda Kenneally’s Stealing Parker.
Her best friend is gay and is coming out and she’s so supportive as is her love interest 🙂
Thank you so very much 🙂
Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green
Everything leads to you is good!!
I haven’t read any YA books with LGBT characters yet, but I’ve heard about many great books with LGBT characters in them such as Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green 😀
nope
Proxy by Alexander London is a great one – especially if you want an LGBT read that’s not contemporary for a change. Post-apocalyptic sci-fi here where the main character is a gay male
I have quite a few favorites. I liked The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Beautiful Music for Ugly Children, and Parrotfish. Many of David Levithan’s books are also good.
haven’t read any lgbt books yet
I have only read a couple, The Perk of Being a Wallflower is fantastic and The Mortal Instruments is one of my favorites!
Will Grayson, Will Grayson and Perks of Being a Wallflower are my favorites. I loved David Levithan’s writing.
No I have not, but I am looking forward to reading some, such as “Will Grayson, Will Grayson” and “Everything Leads to You.”
I haven’t read that many lgbt books but I hope too soon.
I haven’t read any YA books with LGBT characters yet, but I’ve heard about many great books with LGBT characters in them such as Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green:);)
Love Letters to the Dead or Undone (Cat Clarke) had LGBT minor characters.
One of my favorite books with LGBT characters is Love Letters to the Dead. Laurel’s two friends are in a relationship with each other.
I haven’t read many LGBT books that feature around the main character, but I really enjoyed Love Letters to the Dead.
Okay, i have read a few pertaining to the LGBT topic; ‘Will Grayson, Will Grayson’ , The Mortal Instruments series (Alex is gay), The Perks of Being a wallflower, WildThorne, This is not a Love Story, Us Three, and Just between Us.
Great author.
Great author.
i loved Ask the Passengers by AS King
Proxy by Alexander London is a great and its a post-apocalyptic sci-fi ( which is one of my favorite genre) and also the main character is a gay male and i just really love this book.
My favorite is Patrick from Perks of being a Wallflower and recently Kai from Undone
I have only one LGBT book and that is Will Grayson Will Grayson by John Green. It was confusing at first but when you get through the later part, you can say that its cool.
Patrick from The Perks of Being a Wallflower is my favorite character in literature. The entire novel doesn’t focus around his sexuality but he is an unforgettable character.
